spndnchz Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Glad they're done for the year. As for the coach, it's not like he said "Go out and run 'em" or anything.
shrader Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Glad they're done for the year. As for the coach, it's not like he said "Go out and run 'em" or anything. From most accounts, it was a very chippy game, so it is possible. He wouldn't be the first coach to tell a guy to go out there and take care of someone. But then again, it does look like this one was a reaction to a hit. The youtube clips still don't paint the whole picture though.
nobody Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Might as well sign him up for Portland.
Two or less Posted January 27, 2009 Author Report Posted January 27, 2009 Might as well sign him up for Portland. Don't think hockey is in his future, kid might as well stay and hit the books....
shrader Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Might as well sign him up for Portland. He'll be right back with the team next year. Conboy won't though. He has left the school already. You really have to wonder if Montreal will be all that anxious to sign the kid (4th round pick).

You really have to wonder if Montreal will be all that anxious to sign the kid (4th round pick). Tropp could always go to USHL or even the CHL. Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL) hold his rights since he's still only 19, as does the Sarnia Sting (OHL).
tom webster Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Hopefully he takes the advice and doesn't throw it all away. He may not be NHL caliber, but its still too early to give up on it. http://www.sabresprospects.com/
Strow Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 "Both Conboy, a freshman, and Tropp, a sophomore, decided to leave the team a day after both were suspended for the rest of the hockey season, Comley said at his weekly press conference Tuesday" Tropp won't be back to the team from what I saw. As everyone said he might as well find a minor league team to play for.

As everyone said he might as well find a minor league team to play for. I don't know where you got that from. Every report I've read has Tropp still at MSU. They also make it very clear that the door is open for him to return next year if he wants to. Comley himself has said as much.
Strow Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 http://www.michigandaily.com/content/2009-...s-withdraw-team Tropp is still at school but from that article it sounds like he might just stay and the 4 years graduate and not play hockey. This isn't likely since he had some upside to his game so returning next year might happen.

At the very least he could still get a look in the AHL and play professional hockey for a few years.
Drulloch Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Tropp deserves everything and anything they throw at him, that was disgraceful. I pray he never plays in the NHL, he doesn't deserve it - prospect or not.

Tropp needs time and a player that has skill around him like Kennedy was last year.
shrader Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 I agree but that isn't saying much that he is better than those guys. Tropp needs time and a player that has skill around him like Kennedy was last year. Almost all players need someone with ability around them. That is something MSU is lacking this year. Only the most elite players would produce with that current roster, and Tropp clearly isn't one of them. That's not to say that he doesn't have potential. It's just very hard to evaluate that based on his numbers. Just look at Daulton Leveille, drafted in the first round last year in what was considered to be a very strong draft. He's easily the closest thing to a can't miss prospect on that team and even his numbers are mediocre at best (Tropp's points per game figure is higher). The kid is far from a lost cause, but yeah, he now has a major red flag in his record.

inkman Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Note the end of the article... http://www.buffalonews.com/buffalosabres/story/563060.html Darcy certainly hasn't closed the door and I'm glad for it. Everyone deserves a second chance, if anyone knows that, it's me.
shrader Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Note the end of the article... http://www.buffalonews.com/buffalosabres/story/563060.html And the door to returning to the team next year is still wide open. At least he's still playing hockey in some form. http://www.greenandwhite.com/article/20090...WSFRONTCAROUSEL
