BamBam Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 OMG...Hide the women and the children! Eck's at it again! A source has just confirmed that the Sabres are looking at Tomas Kaberle and Mathieu Schneider...Afinogenov could be "part" of what heads the other way. (Of course Eck failed to mention the real players that we would have to give up to acquire these guys, but what the hell...its his rumor mill) Eck's Story Lets break down Eck's story for the real meaning: A source has just confirmed- Translation: Some random caller that was on Shoop and the Bulldog show today. that the Sabres - Translation: Rangers, Habs, or Senators cause the Sabres don't make trades during the season. are looking at Tomas Kaberle and Mathieu Schneider- Translation: Miko Makela and Jakub Klepish. Afinogenov could be "part" of what heads the other way- Translation: Roy, Pomminstein, and Stafford Ps...I'm not Eck. Thank you
Two or less Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 He's starting to get out of control. Reporting a Toronto Sun rumour as his own, like 5 days later, is not cool.

Apparently there's been a few instances of this lately. I've seen it mentioned in other blogs that he's been passing off others' rumors as his own with no credit to the original source.

Bam, please keep these posts coming...they are much-needed comic relief!
LabattBlue Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 I don't doubt the Leafs will try to move Kaberle as he is 30 years old and the Leafs are years away from contending, but he is under contract for two more years after this one and will cost some team a huge ransom. Not that Darcy would do it since the Sabres already have an elite defense, but you'd be looking at the Sabres 1st pick next year, a really good prospect(Gerbe, Butler, Myers or Ennis) and a roster player(Tallinder?). I'm not even sure if that would be enough. Doesn't matter, it's not happening with DR at the helm.
BamBam Posted January 22, 2009 Author Report Posted January 22, 2009 Eck has now added Antropov to the list.. I believe this was reported several days ago as well in a Toronto Paper. Eck Says: Nik Antropov is still holding down the #1 spot as the most trade-able player on The NHL Trade Rumor Chart and today there is much talk about the Bruins. However, the Flames, Sabres, and Flyers are also very much in on this. Antropov and Sabres? Lets just see if Eck's so called "Most trade-able player' on his Rumor chart will actually get delt.
FogBat Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Well, at least he's not making it up out of thin air anymore. Bam, please keep these posts coming...they are much-needed comic relief! To say the least... I know that whenever I see an Eck thread, BamBam is always the author of it. I just look forward to the day when enough people get fed up with him and pull the plug on his charade to where he actually has to get an honest job.

Yeah, I understand that last part, but there's no way Ek makes money off of the free stuff that Bam reposts here. It's fun to see what that idiot (Ek, not Bam) has to say about the Sabres, and it does no harm--and maybe it damages Ek--for Bam to recapitulate it here. Half of us would visit Ek's site to see what was said if Bam didn't post it here, you know?

I just don't see him fitting in to what Burke wants to get done in Toronto. I don't think Tallinder would even be on Burke's radar. I can see Burke wanting a Weber in return as part of a package.

If you really want a good laugh check out what the Thrashers fans are saying about a possible Max for Schneider swap. Now that is funny! Thrashers Message Board: Schneider for Max.

I didn't pay a visit to that thread, but the mere concept of that swap is comical in and of itself. There's no way that's ever going to happen.
nobody Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 I'm guessing since we know Sabres fans are one of the most passionate groups; by him always mentioning the Sabres in his rumors he gets a lot of Sabres fans going to his site - even if just to see how idiotic the rumors are. That profit.
... Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 I hate to put any stock in an EK posting, but today's rumour is really kind of juicy. I ask myself, "would I be okay with a big trade right now?" and I answer "yes, nearly all are expendable". I would prefer we keep Roy, Vanek, Miller, Sekera, Butler, Connolly, Rivet, and the kids in Portland at all costs. The rest can be traded away if it means a legit shot at getting deeeeeeep into the playoffs if not a genuine cup run.

I am ashamed to admit it but I visited his site based on yor post and I could not find anything "juicy". The only thing of merit  he said was "Pronger is not involved". I know you view my posts with a jaded point of view because of my "crazy" political takes but TIFWIW.

Go and take a look around now ,Eck is predicting a BLOCKBUSTER involving the Sabs who knows, he is always good for a laugh
Bmwolf21 Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Go and take a look around now ,Eck is predicting a BLOCKBUSTER involving the Sabs who knows, he is always good for a laugh Pretty much guarantees that no moves will take place.
nobody Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Go and take a look around now ,Eck is predicting a BLOCKBUSTER involving the Sabs who knows, he is always good for a laugh If I were a rumor-monger and I know that the Sabres just lost Tallinder, leaving them short on D, I would also say the Sabres would make a blockbuster trade.
LabattBlue Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Darcy trading 3 roster players in one deal? From hockeybuzz.com... There are reports that tha Sabres may be looking at a blockbuster deal that would send three current roster players to a team out West. When I asked a source that usually nixes Sabres talk I was told this: "The team is getting killed with injuries and a lack of scoring. This is the first time since the lockout that I am getting a more radical reaction from people internally...Making the playoffs is a big deal for the Sabres I am told and the chances of a big deal appear to be very real. They are talking to at least two teams...So yes, I am hearing that as well, in fact I just had a call with a friend who told me that the Board of Governors meetings in Montreal are going to be interesting. Before talking to ____ I honestly didn't expect the Vinny situation could play out this weekend...Now I am not so sure that it won't." What I am hearing more and more is that the Sabres and Ducks are talking.
deluca67 Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Go and take a look around now ,Eck is predicting a BLOCKBUSTER involving the Sabs who knows, he is always good for a laugh This type of confusion is where rumors start. Regier went to "BLOCKBUSTER" to rent 'The Women' for the guys to watch on their flight to Edmonton. This is just like when he went to Arby's and ordered 5 for $5 and people got that confused with Briere's contract. <_<

What I am hearing more and more is that the Sabres and Ducks are talking. It obviously can't be the Ducks. Because they can't afford to add 3 players to their roster. Unless they trade a player that is untouchable... like a Perry, Getzef, Selanne or a Scott Niedermayer. If the Sabres are shipping away 3 players to the West, it would be Phenoix and getting either Shane Doan or Olli Jokinen in return. The Coyotes are climbing the Western Conference standings but are still broke as a joke. But, it's eklund and it's all for entertainment purposes. lol

inkman Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 But, it's eklund and it's all for entertainment purposes. lol I have an opinion of indifference toward Eklund but I'll have to disagree with this. He "reports" that he has sources and his rumors are substantial. There is no "Ha, Ha, look what I came up" with aspect to it.

He says blockbuster, I say we're signing a FA like Pratt for depth.
