Eleven Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Was Roy's move on the shootout deliberately that slick, or accidental?
... Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Okay, if I allow myself of moment of optimism when it concerns the Sabres: imagine this 0809 mk. II Sabres team with offensive production like they're SUPPOSED to have...
SwampD Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Looked on purpose to me... If he scored, he meant it.
JujuFish Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 The fact that he kept with the motion all throughout the shot makes me think it was intentional. Damn, that was sweet.
repster Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Although they look like they're hanging on by a thread at times, they have won key games this calendar year. They seem to be buying into the system a little more and Milller is holding up his end of the bargain. I hope these wins build some more confidence and get some of them to play with more tenacity (more hustle like Gaustad)compared to what it looks like some of the time (Kotalik when he's not in a shootout).
tom webster Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 The fact that he kept with the motion all throughout the shot makes me think it was intentional. Damn, that was sweet. No way that was on purpose. I think his reaction after said it all, but who cares, like someone else said, he scored so he meant it.
carpandean Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 The fact that he kept with the motion all throughout the shot makes me think it was intentional. Damn, that was sweet. His reaction afterword makes me think it wasn't, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on the deal-sealer. It was very Crosby-Winter-Classic-esque, though ... but without the snow.
carpandean Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Anyone else have an issue with Kotalik getting the shootout-deciding goal? With his goal only, the Panthers get to shoot again (their third shooter), but with Roy's added on, they don't. Roy's goal ended it. Honestly, in this case, it should be split 50/50. How many of Kotalik's 10 did he get this way?
wonderbread Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 What the hell corp. I came on here this am and saw no GDT. I come back about 9 pm tonight and I see a game is on. I missed the 1st and 2nd and part of the third. This is unacceptable.

How many of Kotalik's 10 did he get this way? Game-winning shootout goals count as goals in a player's stats (and other shootout goals don't)? Has it been this way since the shootout was implemented? Seems like a horrible way to track stats.
SabresFan526 Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Wow, what a weird game. A goal scored on a penalty shot, and a goal scored when there is no shot on goal, and then Roy's goal on the shootout is kind of an accidental goal that slips through Vokoun's pads much like Kessel's shootout goal last year against Miller. Overall, I thought Miller and the Sabres played pretty well against a very hungry Panthers team. The Panthers blueline is really really good and they've got some big time scorers from their blueline in Bouwmeester, McCabe, and Ballard. Skrastins, aka Iron Man, isn't so bad either. They are a really good team. But, the Sabres played another solid road game and picked up an important 2 points to extend their lead on Florida to 3 points in the standings. And, man, Kotalik is awesome in the shootouts. A little surprised Lindy decided not to use Stafford, but Roy ices the game with his shootout goal. That was a good victory. We've got a nice three game winning streak here and if we win against Tampa, we go into the All-Star Break riding a 4 game winning streak before the big Western road trip.
