BetweenThePipes00 Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Doesn't make much financial sense for the Sens ... Gomez' cap hit is about the same as Heatley's and Roszival has a $5M hit for the next 3 years ... so the Rangers get the best player in the deal AND cap relief? Everyone says ottawa needs secondary scoring ... if they are going to move heatley it needs to be for young guys with offensive talent to get some balance.
Lethbridge Broncos Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 dumb report. No way the Sens are going to ever trade Volchenkov -- he is more playoff valuable than Heatley. everyone in the league knows that.
Buffalo Wings Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 dumb report. No way the Sens are going to ever trade Volchenkov -- he is more playoff valuable than Heatley. everyone in the league knows that. And I can't see the Rangers trading Gomez. He'll still have 5 years left on his deal. Has he been that ineffective??
SabresFan526 Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 Yeah, this doesn't make much sense to me either. Ottawa gives up the better players in the deal and they take on more salary. Volchenkov is better than Roszival, Kuba is better than Kalinin, and Heatley is way better than Gomez. Roszival may be better offensively, but no way near what he is getting paid and Volchenkov is a very solid defensive defenseman. This one doesn't make a lot of sense to me. We all hate Brian Murray, but he's not that much of an idiot and was the guy who put together most of the Anaheim Ducks roster.
