Good offensive skills and somewhat of a physical presence in his own end. Salary the last 4 years....

2000-01 2,800,000

2001-02 2,900,000

2002-03 3,500,000

2003-04 3,600,000

Two year contract, 3 million per year???

He is the top 4 defenseman that would really bolster the blueline corps.

He's the one guy left out there that could save face for Darcy. I was hoping we'd get him but after hearing Darcy talk today, for-git-bout it

What did Darcy say???

Basically said that there are virtually no FA defensemen left that they can afford and that the team might have to look to the trade route.

Hamrlik could thrive here he would be a force on our blueline and he wasn't drafted as high as he was for nothing.Given a lot of minutes he could hit the pinacle of his career, just that I feel he may make too much salary for the Sabres to even consider him.

It seems Roman is thinking like Brendan Witt is:

The gem on defence is Roman Hamrlik, who has already turned down a few offers.

"Our focus is trying to put him in the best situation in terms of playoffs, he hasn't had that opportunity much of his career," said Winter, also his agent. "We've turned down opportunities that were quite lucrative with non-playoff teams and left our focus to be trying to find the best deal, not only economically, but also in terms of the teams' prospects (for winning). So we're being patient and we'll see how that ends up."

I saw something today saying that Hamrlik has a bad knee. Anyone know more about that?

That's pretty interesting, but he is an UFA, and it appears the teams he wants or that he thinks are contenders aren't jumping through hoops.

Is he willing to sit out an entire season?

Hamrlik has 2 bad knees and wants more money than he is worth. I think it would be a bad move. I'd much rather have Witt on the team.
