frisky Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 Sounds like a good physics problem. I think you would want to use an energy method however and it would depend on many variables. Like the stiffness of the stick used to shoot the puck, the amount of energy imparted to the puck from the stick of the shooter, yada yada. However, I don't think deflections would give you the longest distance as energy would be depleted from the puck from each deflection. Perhaps you might have to integrate an ODE numerically as well. Would have to spend more time than I have thinking about it. But, anyone that teaches a physics class could use that as a HW problem for like extra points.
