Guest Sloth Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 It was a good save, but Hecht didn't get much on it. Buffalo has to turn it up. Detroit is starting to go full throttle.
wjag Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Damn... I didn't know the game had started... GDT said 7:30 Hmm.. Now it says 7:00... Maybe I imagined it..

I, too, thought the game was being played at 7:30. I walked in the door and the first thing I saw was Roy celebrating his goal. Buffalo his to put some pressure on Conklin. The Sabres are playing like the did for the first 35 last night.
Guest Sloth Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Terrible turnovers in the last minute. Sabres are fortunate to be up by 1.
wjag Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 The game I saw was all Detroit... Looked like the Varisty playing the JV
wjag Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Man those hated Ravens just knocked off Tennessee 13-10...
smith Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Miller looks really ...nevermind... won't jinx it.
SabresFan526 Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 The game I saw was all Detroit... Looked like the Varisty playing the JV Really? Aside from the last minute of the first period, the Sabres played the perfect road game. They were clogging the neutral zone and forcing Detroit to dump it in deep and the Sabres were picking it up and getting out of the zone quickly. Now granted, the Wings have way more talent than Buffalo and can take control of the puck, but the Sabres have been doing well in terms of preventing the Wings from get the puck possession they like. The Sabres have not done well on faceoffs, but I thought they played a great road game in the first and need to continue that style of play the rest of the game. They gave the Wings nothing except for in the last minute of the first. In fact, at one point, MSG put up a stat that the Wings had 8 giveaways and the Sabres had none. I like the play, just keep it up.
Stoner Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Hockey schmozzle at the end! Miller's sharp again.

Unless Miller truly stands on his head. The MSG crew just said Detroit took over the last 5 minutes.. Anyway, from what I saw, Sabres were on their heels. Turning the puck over, not getting the puck out, etc... What I did see on the positive was great back checking and lifting of sticks. Detroit only got off a few quality shots and the rest were interrupted...

You're both right, the Wings started the siege at about the 4-5 minute mark. I thought prior to that the Sabres really played well and played the perfect road game. They need to play like they did for the first 15 minutes of the period for the rest of the game, but cannot play like they did for the last 5 minutes. But, again, this is an extremely talented Wings team and to think these guys will not dictate play for a small amount of time is unrealistic. We just need to make sure that we limit the amount of time they have the puck and play the game in the neutral zone and their zone.
wjag Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Roy's goal looked like a carbon copy of last night's goal against the NYR..
wjag Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Wow.. Are we going to get our first PP in the last 80 or so minutes... Datsyuk
Crestwood Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 How about that faceoff statistic? 14-2 (14-3, now)? Ouch.
wjag Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 That was a forgettable PP... I guess were out of practice.. Doesn't it seem like the Detroit players are much bigger than the Sabres across the board?
wjag Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Miller has made two or three outstanding saves this period including that last one on Franzen.. He has made a couple of more.. Sekera is getting schooled out there tonight..
R_Dudley Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Hockey schmozzle at the end! Miller's sharp again. Miller has made two or three outstanding saves this period including that last one on Franzen.. Miller is the difference in this one again,,,about time the rest of the team starts chipping in.. Although I will say that play by Rivet a little back not letting Holmstrom step out in front of the net and not backing down, now thats how a defenseman should play....
wjag Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Hudler from the slot Buffalo: :worthy: Detroit: :censored:
Guest Sloth Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Ok, lost lead, lack of effort, no offensive pressure, turnover after turnover, terrible faceoff %, etc...= hope for a shootout.
R_Dudley Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Crap just a matter of time the way we had been playing on our heels most of that period.... <_< Miller has been the difference in this one. We need to get some more shots on conklin, he looked a little shaky early but we've hardly tested him to follow up on that... 25 to 10 shots on... Not good enough
wjag Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Ok, lost lead, lack of effort, no offensive pressure, turnover after turnover, terrible faceoff %, etc...= hope for a shootout. My thoughts too.. Hope for one...

Not good enough Hard to do when we're getting beaten to every loose puck, can't clear our own zone, and can't make two passes connect in a row. Wings are good, they're doing a great job forechecking us to bits.
