SabreInFla Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Uhhhhhh ... no goal there? If we were only up by one right now, I'd be livid. (Oh yeah, we're playing in Toronto.) <_< That has got to be one of the worst calls so far this year..................
Bmwolf21 Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 That burst of speed and SOG into the pads is pretty much the best-case scenario for a Max rush...
darksabre Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 That burst of speed and SOG into the pads is pretty much the best-case scenario for a Max rush... I was impressed he actually took the shot.
Guest Sloth Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 we're winning? Last year, the Sabres were in a playoff run and people were excited. Buffalo is in the same position this year. I don't understand why so many people have given up on this team. I'm not referring to you, d4rdsabre. I'm just disappointed w/ what appears to be a drop off in Sabre support.
Guest Sloth Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Remember a couple years ago we'd be losing but most never lost faith, no matter how late in the game it was getting, because we knew that the guys could explode for 2-3 goals quickly? Yeah, I feel the same way now, but in reverse. Now I don't breathe easy until the final horn sounds... I second that completely. Especially w/ the blown 3rd period leads as of late.

You better not be referring to me. ;) I was watching the Rose Bowl. I think the problem is that although there is a chance this team makes the playoffs, they haven't been showing the kind of game play necessary to be a good team. There's bound to be a drop off in support when a team isn't showing any heart.
carpandean Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Nobody has mentioned that Butler played several shifts with Sekera tonight at even strength? Think they are testing him with some additional minutes? Had 16+ minutes tonight. I'm wondering if they are thinking about after Rivet comes back and/or a trade perhaps ... hm-hm ...
carpandean Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Boston beat the Penguins for us, too! Now, we just have to beat the Bruins ...
RR61 Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 I'm still drunk too brother! But, i do think we will win tonight. 6-1 Sabres. They come strong and get like 3 first period goals. I can feel it. My ride is about to pick me up any minute tho to go to this game. I'm pumped! You were only off by 2 goals. Hope you had a great time. Edit: It was nice of Jason Pominville to show up tonight. Let's see more of that.
carpandean Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 You were only off by 2 goals. Hope you had a great time. I'd say one. That review clearly showed that the puck was in before the net came off on Stafford's "no goal" goal. Didn't count in the books, but for the sake of our message board, I'll give it to myself, er I mean, Stafford.
Knightrider Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Thomas Vanek 4:50. The second leading goal scorer in the league. Ruff's handling of Vanek is criminal. He finished with 17:14, 4th among forwards, so he made up some time not played in the first.
Knightrider Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Man, this board has become dead and quiet...in general. I remember when this board was packed every single game and we'd be on the 3rd page by now. It has quieted down some. It's a whole lot more fun to post when we win. If we're losing, it gets tough to post much, for me, at least.
Stoner Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Boston beat the Penguins for us, too! Now, we just have to beat the Bruins ... Yup, only a point behind the vaunted Penguin machine now.
Stoner Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 That burst of speed and SOG into the pads is pretty much the best-case scenario for a Max rush... Afinogenov drew the hooking penalty that led to the Sabres' first goal. Credit where credit is due.
Stoner Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 A lot more desperation tonight. I counted at least a half dozen plays where Sabres were sprawled on the ice, including two by Vanek. The Sabres' best players were their best players tonight. Miller and Vanek backed up the postgame chatter from the other night.
Bmwolf21 Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Afinogenov drew the hooking penalty that led to the Sabres' first goal. Credit where credit is due. Did not see it, got home in time to watch the 3rd period on Yahoo. That being said, why any opponent would take a penalty on Max is beyond me. The chance that he is going to complete a rush and score a goal or set one up has got to be minimal at best at this point. Why bother - just let him go and it's a pretty good bet that Spazway will screw it up.
darksabre Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Let's see if they can do it again for an afternoon game in Boston. We're born to lose afternoon games.

Bmwolf21 Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 It wasn't on a rush. Doesn't really matter, IMO. Max shouldn't really scare anyone in the league anymore, at least not enough to commit a penalty to slow him down.

Yeah and Goose threw his body around before we were down by three goals, so nobody can complain about that.
BuffalOhio Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Yeah and Goose threw his body around before we were down by three goals, so nobody can complain about that. Ellis and Mair, too!
carpandean Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Ellis and Mair, too! Oh, I definitely agree, but was responding to some comments in the last GDT.
DR HOLLIDAY Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Oh, I definitely agree, but was responding to some comments in the last GDT. Yeah, don't be to positive around here, you might look like you actually like the Sabres.........
Bmwolf21 Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 God those frigging jerseys look awesome. Whomever came up with that abominable Rbk sluggalo design and whomever signed off on it should be shot.
