nfreeman Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Just wanted to wish everyone a very happy and healthy New Year. I know it's a bummer that both the Bills and the Sabres seem to be locked into mediocrity (and, worse, that ownership and management don't seem to care that much), but please take a moment to look at your kids/spouses/parents/siblings/other loved ones and think about how lucky you are. There are literally hundreds of millions of people in this world who don't have enough to eat, who live in war zones, who have terrible illnesses, etc. So our teams are lousy. It could be a heck of a lot worse. Who knows? The teams might improve in the future. It wasn't so long ago that the Sabres were really good. And I remember when the same was true of the Bills. If not, use the time you're not watching them in the playoffs or reading or posting about them to read more, exercise more, pay more attention to family, career, etc. It'll be better for you. It's a great day to be alive! Happy New Year to all and be well. Don't drink and drive tonight, and watch out for those who do.
R_Dudley Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Amen to that. Yep easy to forget it's just a game that they happen to get paid way to much to play and they forget it's supposed to be their work. A Happy and safe New Year to all here on the board.
Two or less Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Happy New Years everyone. Be safe!
wjag Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Just got back from 9 days in Buffalo... Some observations in random order... 1. Arrived with 18" of snow on the ground and left with green grass... 2. Dec 27 - 66 degrees, Dec 28 -- 32 enough said 3. 75 MPH gusts on game day 4. Traffic.. I love it... Even rush hour was a piece of cake... I could get use to wide open highways again... 5. Walden Galleria Mall's design has to be worst mall design in the country.. 6. Walden Galleria Mall's Regal Cinemas by far nicest seats anywhere... 7. Bills .... Brutal.. Dicky J is back to work his magic for yet another year.. He gets rehired on the day Shanahan gets fired... Something is wrong in the universe. 8. Just found out Chestnut Ridge dumped their toboggan shoots ... Boo hoo.. That was such a blast... 9. It was a goal by Sid the Kid.. Sucked, but it was good by the rules... Sabres had their chances in that game. 10. Lake Erie was the angriest I have ever seen it.. What a display!! Happy New Year everyone... The Third Season begins now...

BuffalOhio Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 2009 is gonna be My year! Retiring from the Coast Guard, moving to Cleveland, building a home (hoping to get a 4.25 mortgage by paying some points), and generally taking Cleveland by storm! Now, I just gotta find a job..... Hmmmm....... Let me rephrase that; my wife's gotta find a job; I've got my pension! Wooot! Happy New Year all!
wonderbread Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Happy New Year to everyone. Thanks for putting things in perspective for me Nfree.
inkman Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Am I the only one who doesn't understand the festivities that coincide with January 1st?
deluca67 Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Am I the only one who doesn't understand the festivities that coincide with January 1st? I hear you. The only reason I celebrate is because my vacation time and personal time get re-upped. Beyond that it's just another day off.
2ForTripping Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Heres to a healthy safe and happy 2009 for all! My wife and I are expecting a daughter this year , March in fact ,so 09 promisies to be a great year!
BuffalOhio Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Let's hope 2009 is way better than 2008 in a lot of aspects. Sabres-related, let's hope it's better than this: "In calendar year 2008, they won 37 of 82" Ouch.
