inkman Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Not reallt sure what gaustad brings to the lineup? Grit and toughness, sometimes.
bob_sauve28 Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Grit and toughness, sometimes. And he is a good face off man
Foligno17 Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 I was on the sabres site and they say Gerbe with Roy and Staff. The general with joken and Pomm. Goose with ellis and pie yeah. Why is Vanek banished to a line centered by Mair? I haven't kept up during the holidays, did I miss something as to why Ruff is punishing one if not his top player? Laziness? Just my opinion, but it would be nice to have a least one dominant line with our top three players on it. Vanek Roy Pom General Hecht Stafford Gerbe Goose Kotalik Ellis Mair Paille Or even try the general back at center and have Gerbe General and Stafford. Move Hecht to play with Goose and Kotalik. Is it humanly possible to seperate Hecht and Pommers? Would that be so horrible?

Is it humanly possible to seperate Hecht and Pommers? Would that be so horrible? I don't know what's been going on there. I thought that he played on that line last game because they were trying to limit his 5-on-5 time after he blocked OV's shot in the Caps game, leaving him to focus on special teams. However, I wouldn't imagine that he is still there for that reason. The ????-Roy-Stafford line has played well with both Mac and Gerbe, so it would be hard to break them up. Vanek-Hecht-Pommer clearly wasn't working, but I don't think that this is the right answer. Short of bringing in another scoring-line center (what they really need to do), I don't know what the answer is, but I can't see that being it. The problem with Vanek-Roy-Pommer is that the other team can focus all of its efforts on shutting them down and have little else to worry about. Doesn't work for Ottawa either.
shrader Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Vanek's scoring has seemed to be independent of his linemates all year. The others haven't had any real boost while skating with him. Roy seemed to take off after they were separated. If he can keep scoring with this combination (a big if), why not try to spread the wealth a bit and have two other lines that can put the puck in the net?

Stoner Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 none of these bums deserve a nickname. Thank you. It's time for the fans to fall out of love with these guys. It was a nice run. Kind of feels like 1995 all over again. Change brings fresh meat... and new nicknames. Like Captain Crunch and Cheese. It'll be fine.
