bob_sauve28 Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 We haven't done this in awhile. That commercial for the New Year's Day game has really grown on me. Take me out to the ball game,Take me out with the crowd. Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack, I don't care if I never get back, Let me root, root, root for the home team, If they don't win it's a shame. For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out, Very well done
Stoner Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Oh God, I'm still haunted by that steaming pile of KFC excrement from 05-06 I think. Corn and cheese and chicken and gravy and Jay McKee's finger and... Don't know about anyone else, but I think the Get to Gates commercial where they "pull out the clot" is cool. I know one of these game nights, the Sabres are going to put me in Gates. I hope they can pull out my clot by the third period. Excellent topic Bobby O!

That commercial has me confused though. I mean, if you have a stroke, do you really sit around and decide where you are going to go to get help? No, you go to the closest place that will get the job done. What's the point of the commercial??? Who can ever forget those KFC commercials, though? :D But, we did have a great hockey team "back then." :(
SDS Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Who can ever forget those KFC commercials, though? :D Well, I HAD forgotten about them.
Stoner Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Well, I HAD forgotten about them. Confession time. You had the Bowl of Excrement. There's a plaque outside a gas station restroom in Maryland to commemmorate the day of infamy.
SDS Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Confession time. You had the Bowl of Excrement. There's a plaque outside a gas station restroom in Maryland to commemmorate the day of infamy. Nah. But I do love fried chicken. Man do I love the stuff (yet never eat it). I worked at Ann's Country Inn for 4 years at Darien Lake and I probably had more fried chicken than most people eat in 10 lifetimes. However, while on travel in San Francisco about 10 years ago - something hit me and there's a Carl Jr.'s out there that I'm sure has banned me for life.
shrader Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Wasn't there some kind of truck fairy commercial that always aired in the same breaks as those KFC ones too?
bottlecap Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 I miss Soupy's commercial for people who sweat too much. (He probably has more high profile endorsements in Chicago now) and who can forget Veins Veins Veins. Teppo has an amateurish-looking commercial with three drs. who look like different versions of Latka Gravas. Man Buffalo has some embarrassing commercials.

They are not as bad as the commercials on VS. Man, that Bob and his commercial is just the worst. Natural male enhancement  That is the worst commercial ever. But those Dodge Ram commercials are pretty pathetic too. The one where they have a bunch of morons driving trucks on some fake obsticle course with trucks swinging in the air, fire balls and crap like that. Have they started selling this trucks to 8 year olds?

spndnchz Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Gotta admit, I really dislike that commercial. Seems like a football commercial. Why does it seem like a football commercial to you?

Stoner Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Why does it seem like a football commercial to you? I'll answer for him. Because football fans are idiots. Are supposed to act like idiots. That's the stereotype of a hockey fan, but the reality, I've found, is that hockey fans are more refined, more intelligent. Compare fan behavior at the Ralph with HSBC Arena. Case closed.
bob_sauve28 Posted December 30, 2008 Author Report Posted December 30, 2008 Why does it seem like a football commercial to you? Football commercials always have that loud, obnoxious type person yelling in it. Seems to me anyway, but what do I know?

I still think the Labatt "It's pronounced 'Canada'. And no, I haven't." is funny every single time.

That Aud Smell Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 my all-time favorite ad involving sabres past or present was when the french connection plugged chef's. the commercial involved them singing "that's amore" in a (probably true to life) off-key fashion, then there was a break in the "take" with one of them (bert, i am guessing (can't recall)) opining in terrifically-quebecois'd english "i know whass wrong, we diddnn haff ahhr chhef's pahsta sahs!", and then all of them eating a spoonful of the stuff (cold!) from the jar, and resuming the singing, which was pretty clearly them lip-syncing to some other professional italian group/trio's rendition of the tune. i will still say that to my buddies if we're at a game and the sabres are stinking up the joint -- "we diddnn haff ahhr chhef's pahsta sahs" -- while it's an indictment of the company i keep, the joke almost never fails to kill.
inkman Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 My fav. You own this nursery! LMAO. Gotta admit, I really dislike that commercial. Seems like a football commercial. looooove that commercial. I dislike it as well. "Banging on the glass" guy at any arena needs to be punched in the face, repeatedly. As a matter of fact, if I ever sit behind that guy, that will be the outcome.
darksabre Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 I dislike it as well. "Banging on the glass" guy at any arena needs to be punched in the face, repeatedly. As a matter of fact, if I ever sit behind that guy, that will be the outcome. It's cool ink, I'll never be able to afford seats close enough to the glass to annoy you. And for the record, all you'd have to do is show a little leg and I'll stop.
Stoner Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Ummmm....ya, basically what PA said :D I guess we're practically married after all this time.
That Aud Smell Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 I dislike it as well. "Banging on the glass" guy at any arena needs to be punched in the face, repeatedly. agreed. and while i also agree with the sentiment that harry neale is mailing (phoning?) it in these days, i do recall a pithy, sort-of-throw-away remark he made during his tenure as our color guy, about a fan at another arena who was shown banging on the glass during a replay, to the following effect: "... believe it or not, folks, but that palooka right there will have as much a vote as you and i do in the upcoming elections." i trust it was a rejoinder he'd made 50 times on hnic -- but it still played well.
Crestwood Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 BUMP. In my hockey-watching house, we vote two for and two against the Fallsview Casino "honey-bunny/tattoo" commercial. I think it's pretty funny, though I find the improportionally hot girlfriend/wife a bit troubling.
