Stoner Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Kotalik is almost aproaching Max status in giveaways. And sometimes he just doesn't skate. He really is becoming a liability. Unless he gets a slapper opportunity from ten feet out he's useless. Good call on Hecht's hand. They had a closeup of him looking at it during the game. I still don't think he had that bad of a game, though. I disagree with PA. The refs gave them 2 of their four points. Points?
mrjsbu96 Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Refs gave Montreal the game, that second penalty on Hecht in OT was garbage, pure garbage...........99% that would never be called.......... :wallbash: that call really pissed me off....very entertaining hockey game, back and forth, but you have already given MONT one PP in OT (and that call was deserved) but a 2nd PP in OT? it better take away a blatant scoring opportunity or be a crime and needless to say holding away from the puck was neither of those....those sort of calls really, really piss me off. i don't know how that guy can't skate off the ice thinking what an assclown he is for giving a team a 4-3 on that call..
SwampD Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Points? Okay? Correction:2 of their 4 GOALS. Happy? :nana:
carpandean Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I'm beginning to think that Matt Ellis is the key to our success. In the 10 games that he has played as a Sabre, we are 7-0-3 for 17 out of a possible 20 points.
Stoner Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Okay? Correction:2 of their 4 GOALS. Happy? :nana: No, Aunt Sue. I'm not.

It's their 100th anniversary, give them a break...they need to have all six starters in the All-Star game too!
carpandean Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Are you cereal? Hey, those are important 4-1/2 to 9 minutes. Let's not forget about his goal. ;) Ridiculous officiating tonight. Where did Lydman hold anybody on that 'penalty' to put them down 5-3. I just watched the first Montreal goal and the problem wasn't that there shouldn't have been a second penalty; it was that they called it on the wrong defenseman. Tallinder was holding, not Lydman. The big problem with that is that Lydman is really good on 5-on-3's.
carpandean Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 How can you tell if you are the biggest badass in the league? When you face someone who is 6'4", 247 lbs. and is paid to fight, you do it with a big #%^$#!-eating grin ...

Guest Sloth Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I don't get the logic here. A penalty is a penalty. I don't get the logic here. A mistake call is a mistake call.
Kristian Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I don't get the logic here. A penalty is a penalty. No it's not, a penalty is a judgement call from a human referee, regardless what's in the rulebook. Just like the rest of the world, it's not black and white. If it were, Komisarek should've been in the box for 6 minutes, for high sticking Vanek and then crosschecking him twice after the initial penalty was called, and Kovalev should've been given a 4 min. minor for high sticking Spacek. But refs, human as they are, call stuff the way their flawed logic tells them to. Personally, I have major isssues with the following statement : "Referee Dave Jackson called his 1,000th NHL regular-season game. Jackson, who grew up in suburban Montreal, waved off a potential goal by Canadiens center Robert Lang 2:58 into overtime. A video review showed that Lang knocked the net off its moorings before the puck crossed the goal line. "For all the times you miss something, I had a pretty good view of this one," Jackson said. "I was in my hometown and Montreal scored in overtime, but you're paid to do a job, so I did my job and disallowed the goal." Yeah, and then you had second thoughts and kept calling BS on the enemy, right Dave? Ma Jackson must be sooo proud of her little boy. Plus he knew any video replay would overrule him anyway, so sorry but I'm going to have to call absolute utter horseshit on this one Dave, you friggin' tool.
Claude_Verret Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I don't get the logic here. A penalty is a penalty. You need a new schtick.

They briefly danced with each other that was a piss poor excuse for a "fight" even so I was hoping to see an attempt @ fighting. That fight was about as good as the officiating, both were POOR
mrjsbu96 Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I don't get the logic here. A penalty is a penalty. a penalty is NOT always a penalty. if they called everything out there would be a whistle every 30 seconds.

kasper13 Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Neither penalty in OT was actually a penalty. Sekera did not do anything. Kovalev actually had a hold of Sekera's stick and then stumbled and fell on his own becasue he was holding Sekera's stick and lost his balance. Also, why is it goalie interference on Buffalo but when Montreal did the same thing and scored, it wasn't called? Everytime the Sabres play in Montreal it is one sided officiating in Montreal's favor. Everytime the Sabres got something going- boom- penalties that were not actual penalties. OT was beyond a sad, pathetic joke. Almost worse is that twice in the last three weeks, Sabres had to go play in Montreal on Saturday after playing on Friday. You would almost think that the league favors certain teams like Montreal.
bob_sauve28 Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Or is it because the Goose isn't playing? I'd liked to have had Goose in there last night down the stretch taking draws and playing good defensive foward in our zone. Seems like Mair was about dead out there. We needed more fresh legs
shrader Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Kovalev should've been given a 4 min. minor for high sticking Spacek. It's not a penalty if you stick someone in the face on the follow through of a shot.
BuffalOhio Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I don't get the logic here. A penalty is a penalty. Then why wasn't there a call when Roy was blatantly cross checked into the Montreal net? How do both officials miss something that blatant?
Wyborowa Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 It's not a penalty if you stick someone in the face on the follow through of a shot. The player must have control of his stick at ALL TIMES.
Kristian Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 It's not a penalty if you stick someone in the face on the follow through of a shot. Judgement call. When is it a follow-through, when are you not in control of your stick, which you need to be at all times? Not saying it wasn't a follow-through, just saying it was a judgement call like any other. The point here is that penalties are a subjective thing regardless what the rules say based on the official in charge, and in this case we were handed a Montreal-grown ref, playing IN Montreal. Stinks? Yes, I think so.
Stoner Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I don't get the logic here. A mistake call is a mistake call. Take some fricken reading lessons. mrjsbu wasn't arguing about a bad call. He was saying in overtime you don't call penalties unless this and unless that. He seemed to think the holding call on Hecht was legit. After finally getting a chance to review some of the calls again last night, there were a couple of horrendous ones, including on Hecht (but not on Ellis).
