Stoner Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 I agree. Tattoo is no longer with us? He's been gone for 21 years, 11 months, three days, two hours and 13 minutes. PA lights another candle in his shrine.
Stoner Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 It was an elbow , I just saw the clip on You Tube, Langenbrunner snuck it in . Mighty Mouse was a bit foggy after the snadwiching he took. In the clip it looks as if he is trying to get the number of who clipped him with the elbow. The penalty wasn't called it fell through the cracks, BUT, his team mates should have answered the bell and dropped the hammer on a Devils playerwith one of those "sneaky" hits. So the old man's eyes still work. You have a link for us?
shrader Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Do you also guess weights at carnivals? And age. You should stop by some time.

His momentum in following through makes it look like he through an elbow in.
That Aud Smell Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 I'd like to see intent to injure out of the equation. as would i. Gerbe's already being targeted. The mentality seems to be that of several on this thread. "Hey, I can't help it if the guy is short." this is where the problem becomes really tricky. checking is part of the game. gerbe is so small that most all legal hits by players standing 6'+ will involve contact to his head. so unless you're going to effectively outlaw hits on the kid and put a red pinny on him, i'm not sure what can be done.

My point exactly. Exactly. More times than not, if someone hits Gerbe they will most likely be hitting him in the head just because of his size. It would be almost impossible for someone 8-10 inches taller than him to avoid contact with his head, especially when their shoulders are right around Gerbe's head. I can see him taking quite a few unintentional elbows and shoulders in the future
wjag Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 Gerbe, Gerbe, Gerbe should be sent back to Portland. He didn't show much of anything to justify staying up... And for the record... I still very much dislike Jamie Langenbrunner... Goes back to his days in Dallas...
Two or less Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 Gerbe, Gerbe, Gerbe should be sent back to Portland. He didn't show much of anything to justify staying up... And for the record... I still very much dislike Jamie Langenbrunner... Goes back to his days in Dallas... I wouldn't be so sure about that. He did come in and provide a big spark for the 2nd line. It was his speed IMO which has gotten our second line to start playing well, because his skating like a madman all over the ice, made the defense actually worry about somebody, thus opening up more ice for the rest of the players. Stafford scored last game, and i thought MacArthur over all had a pretty good game as well, but, that line with Derek Roy were not as big of a threat to the Devils as they have had been the several games before then. However, seeing how Gerbe's impact has on the Sabres, i think it's pretty dumb of Regier not to trade for a player to put on that second line and send Gerbe down for more developing. But right now, Gerbe provides more spark then anyone we got on the roster. We can't win with 1 line.

I think things changed when Roy and Vanek were split. That put two scorers on different lines. Gerbe was an accidental tourist to the show. If all he does is provide speed, then that can be gotten from anywhere.

As long as he's on IR he can't be sent down, but yeah, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him back in Portland the second he's healthy.
Kelly the Dog Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 FWIW, Gerbe is 5'4". Watching the Devils broadcast of the game on Center Ice (god, they are dreadful), the announcers started laughing about the fact that Gerbe himself told them he was 5'4". They said most if not all other players that small would lie about their height and say they were bigger, but that Gerbe didn't.

I though they said 5'5", but it might have been 5'4". Either way, it seems that the team has lied about his height, since they have him at 5'6".

You're a big fan of charts, if only there was some true source of heights so you could show the inverse relationship between a player's height and his reported height.
