It is what it is...Miller is an average goalie paid like a superstar...

Moving past the pissing contest

My apologies for the pissing contest. I was still ticked off about the Bills game and let that cranky old D-bag get under my skin. On the bright side it made me realize I'm better off putting him back on the Ignore list.

Don't make me go Schoenfeld on you. You certainly deserve it at this point. I'll stay classy though.

They're your words, so if it's condescending or garbage look in the mirror. You have a full-length one, right?

Just from looking at the numbers from this season and, subjectively, taking into consideration age and length of contract, I think Miller is being paid at around the right rate. Perhaps slightly high but if you try and forecast inflation, I don't think he's being overpaid. Here's a list sorted by save % for goalies with over 900 min. played. The only one playing at the elite level with "elite" money is Luongo. So, you could say that everyone is overpaid.

unless he gets an operation to uncross his lazy eye I don't see things changing. The bloops from the point are

frustrating and the WTF wave is amateurish. He seems to get caught out of position alot and he whines too much.

Not alot of confidence in Ryan from game to game with his consistency; actually Lalime might be better.

the data sorts a lot better when i look at it after hitting the quote function.

miller's just off the lundqvist pace in terms of compensation, which, as it did at the time the deal was announced, sounds exactly right. (so maybe, as you say, the argument is that a number of goalies are overpaid.)

i also find it interesting that cam ward's numbers are so close to miller's this year -- ward was good enough to get the job done in 2006 -- and, imo, miller's plenty good to get it done for us (it's just that a lot of stuff needs to come together, all at the same time).

I have returned to my previous state of indifference. I just don't care.

I went into yesterday's game with the mindset of "a loss will help end the Jauron era," but got sucked back in when the offense actually found the end zone. I should have known better, should have known that they were going to get my hopes up only to kick me in the junk at the end of the game.

The Dick Jauron Buffalo Bills - snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

It's a disease being a Bills fan. No rational person on earth would choose to go through what we have been through. I think this season sets the record for most gut wrenching losses.

Very well put.

i'm sticking with that -- yesterday's debacle will hasten the end's arrival. and let it come soon!

but, really, i can't say it will "speed the healing," since i have no confidence in ralph's willingness to spend the coin needed to get someone solid to helm the team.

really? i still think last year with the denver/dallas combo was tougher, and then the frustration from the hoping-against-hope blizzard game at cleveland.

I think we should send Miller out of here with Losman on the same train :nana: ....I know this will get you going wolf but I am just messin around..Cant help it..

How would anyone find your junk?

miller's like a handful of above-average ("good") goalies in the league -- capable of stellar play, likely even capable of backstopping a cup-winning team (should the planets align), but also susceptible to head-scratching gaffes and valleys of performance, both on a semi-regular basis.

Similar to when Marty Biron was here - you could count on him giving up a softie through his pads at least every other game.

Got home late and read this whole thread with dinner. Pretty funny stuff, and I'm not talking about the cat-fight...er..um..I mean, pissing contest. Miller isn't great, but he's pretty darn good(that's all I can come up with and I'm glad we have him). He's payed what he should be payed. It's pretty good but it certainly isn't superstar money. And as far as him being a head case...whatta shocker! You mean there is a goalie that is a head case? I thought that the term "goalie" was actually an Inuit word that meant head case.

Hell yeah!

I thought it was a pretty widely accepted fact you MUST BE a head case to step in front of small frozen discs, getting fired at you at 80+mph.
