TC at least two more weeks away from practicing...

"Tim Connolly, who has been out since Nov. 15 because of a broken rib, isn?t expected to practice for at least two more weeks. The center, who is skating on his own, has missed 22 of the Sabres? 28 games."

What is ridiculously frustrating and sad is that TC has 7 points in the only 6 games that he's played, which is more points than Gaustad, Tallinder, Rivet, Kaleta, and of course Peters. Why can't the Sabres just cut their losses and get a legitimate second line center instead of reminding all of us that The Skill continues to miss games? TC is the biggest tease of an NHL player I think I have ever seen. It's maddeningly frustrating.

There is no TC. There is only a mirage. A fantasy, a wisp of smoke that slips through your fingers when you try to hold it.

In all seriousness, I've concluded that while he's great on the ice, every time he gets hurt (which is just about every time he plays), it's a punch in the stomach to the team, which is already pretty mentally fragile. It's just time to move on and stop thinking about how great it would be if only he could play regularly.

What's scary is that after looking at the schedule, if he doesn't even start practicing for another two weeks, he probably won't actually play for 3-4 weeks. It is quite likely that we will hit the mid-point of the season before he returns. Six games in the first half of a season?! :wallbash:

I don't care if they "cut their losses" (honestly, I'm not sure there is any route to do this, since he is already on IR, freeing up his roster spot, and they can't unload his salary), but they have to acquire another top-two center somehow. Let Timmy be a bonus winger or bonus third-line center, but get somebody for that important top-two spot who can be there night in and night out.

They should.

They won't.

TC really is a mystery. If he could stay healthy he has the skill to be a Top-5 assister in the league. But the frequency of his injuries can't just be bad luck - he either has a uniquely fragile build, or there's something wrong with his technique; that is, hit-absorbing technique. I think that's the most likely, but I also think he's still worth the risk. Maybe not the money given his missed games, but he's worth *close* to what he makes. I hope he's willing to give the sabres something back and extend on the cheap. His only hockey liability is health. He must be frustrated as hell.
