mrjsbu96 Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 And the Sabs outscore the Bills. For the second time in three days. it's sooo sad isn't it...i still can't get over how bad that team is now...
ROC Sabres Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 I'm really waiting for the post game when they either a) make excuses why the Pens lost or b) make it seems like Pens are such a better team that they expected them to win the game no problem.
ORSabre Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Because it was a roughing penalty. Come on. Sabourin looks shaky. But the third has been a period of nightmares for the Sabres in this building. We'll see. Feels like the Sabres' night. Glad the Versus announcer could be bothered to call that one goal. "And I had the best enchilada here in Pittsburgh. Great joints to eat... and the Sabres score... I even had a dollop of sour cream on it." Since when is the wing the flank and the circle the ring? Roughing is such a subjective call...
wjag Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 3:43 to a W 3:00 2:30 2:00 1:30 1:00 Empty Net.. Vanek misses an empty net 0:45.4 NO goal... horn sounds
SabreInFla Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Huge win...that is the kind of game that could get things back on track.
ROC Sabres Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 What a c0ck sucker of Crosby to jab hecht at the end there.
Wacka Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 What a c0ck sucker of Crosby to jab hecht at the end there. Hecht can give him a Christmas present later in the month.
wjag Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 You just knew the Sabres would win after killing that 2 minute 5 on 3... This is a game to build on.....
ROC Sabres Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Hecht can give him a Christmas present later in the month. I hope he does. Just like he gave Vinny last week. Wasn't much but he got his licks in.
jimiVbaby Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 that was badass... more of this please.
elcrusho Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Another reason not to respect Crosby... along with that little hissy fit he had a couple games ago against us when he whacked his stick on the net after the whistle blew
SwampD Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Awesome. Roy is definitely back. Tallinder...WTF. Three minutes left, a 3 on 3 rush, and he covers the pass instead of going to the guy at the circle and he gets a clean shot off. If I'm Ryan I'm pissed. Shakira, Shakira. He is the real thing. What a good game.
ORSabre Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 In my opinion, Gaustad had his best forechecking game so far this year. Great presence and a lot of energy...not to mention that hit in the 2nd...
Hawerchuk Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Great win! Goose, Vanek and Miller were HOT HOT HOT!!
SabresFan526 Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 What a win. Very impressive. 3 major things stood out and why I think Buffalo won the game tonight: 1. Miller came up huge tonight. He made some really huge saves tonight. I know he gave up 3 goals, but one was a 5-on-3 and Fedetenko's two goals were because of really pretty plays by Malkin and you expect that to happen with the talent the Pens have. But, Miller came up huge on the important.... 2. The 2 minute 5-on-3 penalty kill. The Sabres killing off the entire 2 minute 5-on-3 was the turning point of the game. That kill is ultimately a major reason the Sabres won tonight. 3. All four lines scored a goal tonight with Roy scoring, Kotalik scoring, Paille scoring, and Vanek with the game winner. It's this type of balanced scoring the Sabres need to get consistently. If they can do this, they will be awesome this season, but consistency has been what has killed this team. Very impressive win by the Sabres coming back with 3 unanswered goals. Corp, you called it but it was a regulation win and not in OT, but great job by the Sabres. Also, great job by the Sabres to do everything in their power to win this game as the refs did everything they could to give the Pens the win with 8 penalties and 3 5-on-3s. Ridiculous. Great win by the Sabres.
SwampD Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 I just gotta say, sports interviews are really stupid. Vanek - "Winning 2 is better than losing 5 in a row." I know what he meant but it just sound ridiculous.
SabresFan526 Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Hecht can give him a Christmas present later in the month. Notice how Hecht was laughing after Crosby cheapshotted him? Hecht's probably thinking, "I've taken out Lecavalier, and you're nothing compared to him. Bring it on and I'll take you out too."
wjag Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Buffalo PK  Buffalo PP:
Stoner Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Gaustad was in beast mode. Did he almost win that one faceoff into his own net? Gotta hand it to Miller. This has to be the season turning point. Has to be.
SabresFan526 Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Shakira, Shakira. He is the real thing. What a good game. I'm convinced he will be a Norris Trophy candidate. Seriously. He's soooooooooo much better than Campbell defensively, and he's one of the better defensive defenseman on the team. If he can get more production offensively, he will be far better than Campbell ever was or will be. He's got way more upside than Campbell and I'm glad Darcy made that trade last season. Sekera is quickly becoming our #1 defenseman, and he's only 22. I'm excited to watch this guy mature and become a Norris Trophy candidate within the next 5 years.
carpandean Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Isn't this the second time that we've had a come-from-behind win against the Penguins sparked by a long 5-on-3 kill? Am I remembering that right?
LabattBlue Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Game thoughts... -A really nice game from Miller despite the 3 goals. One of his better efforts this year. -If Kotalik got his nose dirty more often as he did on the goal he scored, he would be a 30 goal scorer in the NHL. -That was a monster hit by Gaustad and the kind of play that made him a fan favorite in his rookie year. -One thing I liked about Gerbe...I didn't see him knocked to the ice even once. -You can tell when Stafford is playing with more confidence. I thought his game was really solid tonight. -I'm repeating myself a lot on this point, but Rivet continues to unimpress. -Before the string of penalties against the Sabres beginning late in the first period, Malkin committed a blatant pick in the corner...no call. -Poor coverage in the Sabres zone on all 3 Pittsburgh goals. -If Pittsburgh ties the game up, Vanek has nightmares about missing the open net. -A good win for a team that has been on the ropes. Let's see what happens back on home ice!
SabresFan526 Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Gaustad was in beast mode. Did he almost win that one faceoff into his own net? Gotta hand it to Miller. This has to be the season turning point. Has to be. What? You giving Miller props? I never thought I'd see the day
darksabre Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Good game, let's build on it. This team is kinda frustrating to watch. I spent the entire game wondering when we were going to slow down. The good team has played the last two, I hope they can stay mentally strong and come out and win another on wednesday. Maybe Hecht will give Vinny another shiner. Oh, and my tip of the hat tonight to Paul Gaustad. There's the Goose I know and love.
