Corp000085 Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 7:30pm This is a versus game. I think that the Sabres can build off of saturday night's victory. They just need to tighten up the first shift after every goal that they score. One of the keys to victory is to not let the other team score 10 seconds after we score. Also, if I were lindy, I'd play Miller again. It shows the fragile Miller that his coach has confidence in him after the victory, criticism or not. LETS GO BUFFALO!
wjag Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Need something positive for the city to erase the memory of the Bills season. Remember when the Bills were 5-1 and the Sabres were 8-0-2?
WayneGibbous Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Finally get a chance to see Gerbe play tonight. I was disappointed to see Mancari get sent down because I enjoyed watching him play. I wish they would have given him more PP time to set up some Kotalik-like one-timers. He definitely has an NHL-level shot.
cdexchange Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 This is a versus game. no RJ  yay HD
nobody Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 I'm sure Lalime will also be happier if Lindy plays Miller today. :P I'd guess Lalime on Wed so Miller can then play both Fri/Sat since the team then has 3 days off.
SMIRNOFF Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Remember when the Bills were 5-1 and the Sabres were 8-0-2? That was looooong ago, and far away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SDS Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Remember when the Bills were 5-1 and the Sabres were 8-0-2? That was looooong ago, and far away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and it was so much better than it is today... [repeat]

Guest Sloth Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Both teams had me thinking this was going to be a a GREAT year for Buffalo sports, but they quickly took that away. I was at the first Bills/Dolphins game in October. Even though they lost, I wasn't worried about them not making the playoffs. Boy, was I wrong on that! Also, it's hard to believe some hockey sites had the Sabres ranked number 1 after the first 6 or 7 games. Just like the Bills, I didn't have any worry about them falling a part. I don't think the Sabres have done that yet. It all depends on this month. If the Sabres get hot, season continues. If they continue to play like they have been for the last month or so, it's over. This season either continues or ends in December. I hope the players have realized this.
dante23x Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Miller will have to play tough tonight against Pittsburgh's stars. If the defense continues to attempt move play in the offensive zone, Miller needs to be strong. I like the way Stafford has been playing, I think he's a solid forechecker and may have finally found his groove this season. The powerplay needs to get going though. Go Sabres! I predict a 5-2 victory for Buffalo tonight. I think last game against TB gave them some confidence and I liked seeing Goose, Mair, and Hecht (!) drop the gloves.
Two or less Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 When's the last time Sabres beat the Pens in Pittsburgh? Dec 2006 maybe? Mario's last game, Drury scored in OT? I was there... i can't think of us beating them since that game in Pittsburgh though. It's going to be a hard one but they got to win. I've heard few interviews from media and players that you gotta hope for 4 out of 6 points from the trip, they fell on their face in Florida and took care of business in Tampa, now gotta make an upset of their own and beat Pittsburgh.
inkman Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Considering TB is the worse team in the league, I took nothing positive away from the last game outside of obtaining two points. I expect the Sabres to get annihilated.

If they had remembered to play the last 10 minutes in Pittsburgh earlier this season, then they might have won. They need to pressure the Penguins all night. Their defense is suspect and you can't sit back with Crosby, Malkin, Staal, ... coming at you.
cdexchange Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 I predict a 5-2 victory for Buffalo tonight. You're dreaming. 5-2 the other way sounds about right. Hope you're right and I'm wrong.
dante23x Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 You're dreaming. 5-2 the other way sounds about right. Hope you're right and I'm wrong. I just wanted to try saying something positive for once. Apparently I wasn't convincing.
SwampD Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 As much as he doesn't want to, Miller needs to keep his legs closed whenever Crosby is near him.
FearTheReaper Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 I think they build off of saturday and carry that into Mellon arena. Stafford has been playing great the past couple games, and hes finally showing he might be worthy of the 1st line RW spot. Pominville needs to do something on the score sheet soon. He needs a playmaker on his line and without Connolly,i'm not finding one on this roster beside Roy. To bad Max has been garbage for about 2 seasons now. Heres a crazy idea, what if Lindy tryed a Max-Hecht-Pominville line? Maybe playing with better players might make Max better? Just a thought. I left my jersey at home today. Prediction: Sabres 4-2

Pominville definately plays better with good players around him, especially with a playmaker at center. He doesn't get the garbage goals that guys like Vanek get but he has an accurate shot so he needs some luck or a playmaker to make plays for him. Hecht isn't that guy. Connolly can't be trusted.

Hecht was been placed into that playmaking role by Ruff, and it doesnt work for him. I agree Connolly cannot be trusted 50 percent of the time, but i still dont want to give up on him. I think everyone can agree that Connolly and Pominville have a great chemisty togehter, when Connolly plays that is.
Claude Balls Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Remember when the Bills were 5-1 and the Sabres were 8-0-2? Nope! No reason to. I would much prefer the them to start with crappy records and get better as the year progresses, not the exact opposite. Something is so very, very wrong when teams get worse the more they play. :death: :death: :death: Oh yeah, not expecting a Sabres win tonight. They are probably still recovering from actually showing up and playing a decent, physical game in Tampa.
ROC Sabres Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 I think the part that really screams what the problem is for Buffalo is when you look at the +/-. Gerbe, with 1 game under his belt, leads the team with a +2. That just shows how little this team is scoring and/or spreading the scoring around at least. Pens in a close one 5-3 with an empty netter.

Beating the lightning was just whatever, winning against the pens, on national tv, in dramatic fashion, well that's what the doctor ordered.

LabattBlue Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Players are pleased to hear DR say they will build from within and knowing that they are safe, will lay another egg... Pens 6 Sabres 2. We'll hear all about how that they are on the end of a road trip, no legs, 86 games in 150 nights. At least once, Miller will bring out the "WTF arm wave" just for me! None the less...I am excited to see Gerbe as I missed most of the game the other night!
