TAMPA, Fla. ? There was no way to misread this: Ryan Miller was not happy with his coach?s criticism.

The Buffalo Sabres goaltender, singled out by Lindy Ruff after Thursday?s 2-1 loss to Florida, abruptly ended his interview Friday shortly after being told of Ruff?s comments. The coach said the first goal ?was an easy play for Ryan to read,? and Miller used the slight to close his chat.

Told he may face more oddman rushes because Ruff wants his defensemen to join the play more, Miller ? clearly taken aback by the earlier words and getting more emotional by the second ? uttered, ?Well, I guess I?m going to have to read better,? and took off toward the team bus following practice in the Ice Sports Forum.

Getting ugly.

Not ugly, just typical. Typical Buffalo fashion to alienate players from this town. Miller was one guy I didn't think would get criticized by anyone but us folks here, as much as he deserves it some nights. What's ugly is I think Lindy is getting sick and tired of the BS going on with this organization and is starting to show it. He acted like he didn't give a rats fat ass about anything when Sylvester interviewed him after the Florida game. You can see it in his face as well. He's got like that just f-it attitude going.

One thing that has really caught my attention lately is the number of veterans earning spots in Ruff's doghouse, and how he seems fed up and is done coddling most of them. Just 2+ months into this season and we've already seen three skaters healthy scratched -- Tallinder, Max and Paille (who is admittedly a frequent visitor to Ruff's doghouse) -- and the starting goalie has been singled out by the head coach.

Is it the sign of a coach running out of ideas to reach the players on his roster? Or is it the realization that these guys have, in fact, been coddled too much? I don't know, but it will interesting to see how this all plays out.

I wonder if Miller threw up the "WTF arm wave" after he heard the comments.

Miller, STFU, make the save, beat Fikku Rinne or whatever backup scrub you face, then you can comment to the media about criticism from your coach.

Miller's psyche has always been a bit fragile starting with the meltdown he had in I believe his rookie year. If he can't handle "very mild" criticism from his coach, I am very worried about the investment they made in him. Grow some balls(just don't let your happy go lucky fondling teammates know :) ), become a leader and step up your game when you are called out.

Hahahaha, a perfect name for it if you ask me.

I get the feeling that he's going to be pulling out all the stops soon and start scratching people that we would never think he would (Pommers, Roy, etc).

That's going to send those players a message and all the other players as well. I'm just not sure that the players are buying into it if they even understand the message.

Open letter to Ryan Miller.....

Stop your whining. You are not making the "big" saves when your team needs you to do so. Get a sports shrink if that is what you need, but for god's sake, stop the friggin whining and stop the puck!

Couldn't agree more.

"I guess I need to read better".

Yes Ryan, you need to read better and bitch less.

Crybaby.

I agree with Ruff 100%

I've said it before on here and about to say it again. Miller is suppose to be an elite goaltender, it's time he starts to play like one.

Well frankly guys I have noticed a slight shift in Lindy's attitude ever since he blurted out the fact that it took him "weeks" to get over the events of Summer 2007. Remember that? He just seems deflated and like he never fully came back to the job after that.

Maybe it's just me, but I usually read people pretty well, and I think Lindy is still smarting.

In regards to Miller...he does need to grow up and play like the goalie he thinks he is.

Miller might be pining to go to a team that has its act together. (ahem Red Wings, who

are giving up lots of goals this year)

Hopefully, he gets his wish cause he ain't doing it here.

That being said, Ruff is starting to take on the look of a mean old drunk from the West Side.

Ruff doesn't look like me at all.

And with Miller, they would most likely keep doing so.

If I'm the Wings, the last goalie I would be looking for is a cross-eyed one, who has reputation for giving up soft goals on point shots, and whines when called out.

To be honest, how the hell do any of you guys know he was "whining" when he said that? Maybe hes just saying that he's going to have to make better reads. None of you were there or heard or saw this clip. We all could be misinterpreting the quote because we can't hear the context or inflection of his voice... Or i may be totally wrong and hes whining but you can't really know.

Also, maybe a poke at him will light a fire under his ass. Nothing else has worked.

did you miss the memo? this is sabrespace, where anything that can be interpreted negatively, will be interpreted negatively...vehemently so.

Enough whining Miller, play the game. You wanted the big money now, you must deal with some of the big criticisms that come with it, it's a package deal. Accept Lindy's challenge and mind your damn net ! I would venture a guess Lindy would absolutely love if you shut him up. He just served you a big piece of humble pie, so dig in and enjoy and in return make Lindy eat some crow.
