Stoner Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Buffalo News: "I thought it was an easy play for Ryan to read," Ruff said. "The guy on the other side wasn't showing shot, and I thought it was an easy play to get over and make the save." The announcement of Campbell's goal came just as Keith Ballard used him as a decoy to double the Florida advantage. The duo entered the zone on a two-on-one, and Ballard kept the puck and whistled it past Miller to send the fans' cow bells rattling. It also sent Ruff's antenna up. "You've got to get saves there," Ruff said. "You've got to get saves. That's just the bottom line. You've got to get big saves at a time like that. When we're pushing hard [with our defensemen joining the offense], we're going to need a big save, and I'm not going to back off that." --- Does this signal Ruff is about to open things up and let the chips fall where they may -- usually into the top of the Sabres' net?

It would seem to be a better idea than forcing the players into a system they just aren't suited for. The Sabres are too small to play a grind in out, shut down style. Defensive hockey takes a physical toll that the frail smallish Sabre forwards are not willing to play.
inkman Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Does this signal Ruff is about to open things up and let the chips fall where they may -- usually into the top of the Sabres' net? Like what? Lalime playing more? We know that won't happen.
darksabre Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Nah, Lindy is just going to leave during the games and go to the bar instead.
nucci Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Nah, Lindy is just going to leave during the games and go to the bar instead. You mean like the rest of us?
Stoner Posted December 5, 2008 Author Report Posted December 5, 2008 You mean like the rest of us? Last night I would have preferred a good crotch-grabbing myself.
inkman Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Last night I would have preferred a good crotch-grabbing myself. From Clarke? Or a rabid bagder?
Stoner Posted December 5, 2008 Author Report Posted December 5, 2008 From Clarke? Or a rabid bagder? A whowhat?
nobody Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 As soon as Lalime lost his first game Lindy lost confindence in him. They could call up Enroth for a game.
Bmwolf21 Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 As soon as Lalime lost his first game Lindy lost confindence in him. They could call up Enroth for a game. If he's ready, why not. Can't hurt the team at this point. The only thing that worries me is if he will be able to handle it if he comes up and struggles. I'd hate to ruin his confidence in his first season in North America, just to snap a losing streak in December.

Usually when we arrive there....things get worse :death:

jimiVbaby Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 If we're not at that stage, then we're dangerously close. They can get better.... like say John Tavares? We need linemates for Vanek while he's still young and spry.
Kristian Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Calling up Enroth to tend goal for this team of primadonnas would be a massive mistake, IMHO. Nobody that young and promising should be forced to play for the current Buffalo Sabres.

Nobody that young and promising should be forced to play for the current Buffalo Sabres. The biggest problem with this is that to me, Miller seems like a goalie with a fragile physique. If Ruff calls up Enroth and he plays well, I think we now have a $6 million goalie who lacks confidence on the team.

nobody Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Physique or psyche? He is pretty skinny. :)
DR HOLLIDAY Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Damn these threads are depressing.........
That Aud Smell Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 god, just when i thought things couldn't get any worse. Miller's Feelings Hurt.
2ForTripping Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 He is pretty skinny. :) His nick name should be FRAIL due his physique and psyche
Bmwolf21 Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 god, just when i thought things couldn't get any worse. Miller's Feelings Hurt. Good. Maybe he'll get good and pissed off and channel that into his focus.
R_Dudley Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 god, just when i thought things couldn't get any worse. Miller's Feelings Hurt. Please your one of the highest paid players on the team and expected to be one of the leaders and and you can't take some critique ? Therein lies the rub with this team. Probably nobody in the brat pack likes to be called out.. <_< His nick name should be FRAIL due his physique and psyche Well played . :D
Kristian Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 god, just when i thought things couldn't get any worse. Miller's Feelings Hurt. "Well, I guess I'm just going to have to read better". Yeah Ryan - You should. Read better, and whine less. And that whine part goes for your so-called teammates as well.
