SDS Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 Outside the Buffalo area - when the games are shown on MSG is the Sabres feed on channel 7xx blacked out? I'm tired of just letting tivo pick the feed because 9/10 it is always the away feed. If I had to hear "Vahnik" one more time last time from that shitball Pitt PBP guy I was going to put my foot through the TV. Way to prepare knucklehead.

I live in Delaware and I had both Pitt and Buff feeds, Ch 778 and 779. Not sure if that answers your question.
SwampD Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 It depends where you live. In the NYC area whenever they play the Isles, Rags, or Devils it's always blacked out. Sometimes they are both blacked out and you have to go to the local sports channel in the 6xx's. I'm assuming that you have DTV because cable is different. Many times when I have both feeds, my buddy, who has cable, will only have one. I had both last night.
2ForTripping Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 If you aren't able to watch the game record both feeds . My DVR allows you to record 2 reeds @ once assuming you aren't watching something else. Your question about the MSG feed, well if you have center ice you get both feeds with the MSG alternate if you have the sports package as well on another channel with RJ and company. Thus giving you 3 channels to view the game. If it is an away game as is the case tonight if MSG is carrying the game it'll be standard def because no away games are in HD. In checking about tonights tilt the guide only lists one feed for the game so far, it may list another due to other channels opening up due to earl ier games. The TSN feeds generally aren't in HD unless it is on the NHL network, in my experience anyway. Hope this helps out. I have DTV
Tony P Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 On DirecTV, we don't always get the MSG feed on away games in HD but do generally get the MSG feed in SD whether home or away. There is the rare occasion when we are forced to watch the opposition's broadcast only. A neat trick I've learned, and I think it was from here, is if I want to watch the game in HD and only have the opposition broadcast on DirecTV, I log on to WGR55 and listen to the Sabres broadcast online and then use the DVR to synch the audio with the HD video. Works really well except after period breaks when I have to mess around for a few seconds getting the video to catch-up to the audio or vice versa. Hope some of this helps.
Hawerchuk Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 I live in Las Vegas with Center Ice, and the general rule here is if its a home game, we get MSG with Rick and Harry. If its a away game, we usually get their homer announcer and not MSG.

HurlyBurly51 Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 If you have DirecTV, they've been pretty consistent this season when they have dual feeds (by the way, the whole idea of dual feeds is to give fans the option of which broadcast they can choose to watch, so they are not blacked out, at least not here). Anyway, on the CI channels in the 700's the visiting team gets the first channel slot, and the home team gets the second channel slot. For example, Boston at Buffalo would be Boston NESN on 770 and 770-1, and MSG on 771 and 771-1. So, it may require some manual intervention to make sure the DVR is picking up the right feed. Alternatively, they have been opening up the sports pack channels during games, so record away games on 638 or home games in HD on 638-1. I am not a sports pack subscriber but these channels have been opened up for every game thus far. This way you're assured of always getting the Sabres feed. Hope that helps.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 this is one reason I pay for the regional sports package, also ability to catch the postgame. This way if its a home game I record 638-1 if an away game 638. Plus with the ability to setup a recording via the web if ya forget ya can still ask system to record when not at home.

Another trick is to use XM NHL feed assuming ya get ths sabres feed, this way ya only have to pasue the DVR once and your kewl for the entire game. With wgr online the delay is almost 1:30.
