dante23x Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 From the Chicago Times: The game tonight will be Campbell's first against the Sharks since leaving. He'll play his first game in San Jose on Nov. 26. While he expects both games to have a different feel from other games, neither will be like going back to Buffalo, where Campbell played most of his career. ''Buffalo will be a little tougher,'' he said. ''I'm glad we're not going there this year, and hopefully a year from now if we go there, they won't know who I am. That'd be fine by me.'' I hope he gets booed so bad he starts crying on the ice. Or I hope he scores 10 goals against us so Darcy Regier starts crying for letting him go.
inkman Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 He's a BlackHawk, of course we are going to forget him.
Goodfella25 Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 I hope he gets booed so bad he starts crying on the ice. Or I hope he scores 10 goals against us so Darcy Regier starts crying for letting him go. Yea, he def. deserves to be booed. How dare he cash in on a ridiculous offer such as the one Chicago gave him. <_<
Claude Balls Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 How could anyone ever forget our beloved red headed defenseman.
spndnchz Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 IMHO, I think Brian meant that... oh nevermind.
inkman Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 How could anyone ever forget our beloved red headed defenseman. If Soupy was built like Carrot Top, I would have crying when the Sabres traded him:
Claude Balls Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 If I looked like that I would take steroids too.
dante23x Posted November 24, 2008 Author Report Posted November 24, 2008 If I looked like that I would take steroids too. Don't forget his obvious plastic surgery.
Bmwolf21 Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Brian Campbell wants Buffalo fans to forget him Done.
Two or less Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Brian Campbell won't get boooed and will be applauded. It wasn't his choice to leave. He isn't a scum like Drury.
sabregoats Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Brian Campbell won't get boooed and will be applauded. It wasn't his choice to leave. He isn't a scum like Drury. exactly, the way drury left really set the team back and helped no one but himself. Had he just told the FO he had no interest in staying they would have gone after Briere, and let the prick walk. Instead drury single handedly guaranteed we would lose both our captains. The guys is a phony, he was my favorite Sabre while here, and now I can only wish the worst for him.

Drury tells management he will bounce because he missing his mommy, Regier would ink that $5.5 million per year deal that Briere had offered in a second. Drury being a scum, meant we lost both and it got ugly. It was an ugly summer for Sabres. Campbell won't be the same. He wanted to return and wanted to stay but his FAIR VALUE (don't forget, this is a business) was not going to be offered by Buffalo because we know what kind of depth we had for offensive defensman (Sekera + guys in juniors/minors) that it didn't make sense. We needed to lock up Pominville and Miller first, and had to get rid of Campbell to guarantee that.
Buffalo Wings Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Who is this Campbell fellow you all speak of?
Two or less Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Who is this Campbell fellow you all speak of? Nobody will ever forget Brian Campbell. Nobody.

bottlecap Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 How can I ever forget Brian's classic Hyperhydrosis commercials: I'll never forget the defenseman who can't stop sweating.

Campbell is no better than Drury ... they were both offered contracts early in their final season in Buffalo and chose not to sign them despite looking into the camera over and over and saying they wanted to stay. Yeah, they were both offered deals at less-than-market value, but it was still their choice. It doesn't make them evil, it was their right and they exercised it. Why people make Campbell out to be some sort of victim and Drury some sort of a-hole is beyond me. Maybe Drury did change his mind and go back on a handshake deal, I don't know, but Campbell kept saying what the fans wanted to hear while holding out for the last dollar when it came right down to it. He knew from day one he was never going to get it, yet he played it up right until the day he left like he was so disappointed. Whatever. Personally, I would not boo either of them ... they got their shot at a payday and they took it. It's disappointing just like it is disappointing the Sabres made some bad choices and signed others instead. It sucks. But how you guys split that hair and hate Drury while feeling sorry for Campbell is beyond me.

Sabres matched the $7 million that NYR signed him for. WTF are you talking about????

WTF are you talking about???? ANd you know this how??? Maybe they shoulda signed the contract they had him believe he had the October before..But believe what you want....
SwampD Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 ANd you know this how??? All it takes is five bad games and we're right back to talking about the Ghosts of Christmas Past.
stenbaro Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 WOW. All it takes is five bad games and we're right back to talking about the Ghosts of Christmas Past. I will defend against every Anti Drury post I read..If you want to call that Ghost of Christmas past have at it..It was all on the Sabres for even letting it get to that..You want to see the biggest reason for their fall look no further thatn Buffalo Sabres minus 23....That player was the man, scored big goals a key times and led this team..Now we see what we get without him..DOnt slam him slam the front office for that giant mistake..

I personally won't slam either. Business is business. My point was just that I like it so much better when we are winning so that I don't have to hear about this anymore. They are gone. Get over it. Move on and start winning.
LabattBlue Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 WOW. All it takes is five bad games and we're right back to talking about the Ghosts of Christmas Past. 5 bad games? The Sabres are 3-8-1 in their last 12. Not quite 2-15-1, but pretty pathetic none the less considering the start they had.

It still doesn't change the fact that drury, briere, and cambell are not going to help us turn this thing around.

WTF are you talking about???? I am talking about the long-rumored deal Drury and Regier supposedly agreed to the previous November ... the $7 million offer was desperation and Drury had already decided to leave. The same as Campbell decided to leave when we was asking for "market value" to stay. Did Miller get market value? Did Pominville? I would argue no, they would get more on the open market. The guys who really want to stay work it out and take a little less. Campbell played it lip service all the while knowing full well the Sabres were not going to pay him "market value" and he was taking nothing less. Like I said, it's his right and I would not boo him, but he was no victim. He knew exactly what was going to happen.
