  1. 1. Are you glad that the team is showing it's true colors, hopefully enticing more roster moves?

    • Yes, otherwise this non-contending team would have not made any changes

    • Darcy won't do anything anyway

A part of me is glad this team is sucking right now. They needed to address issues in this past off-season, but I'll take them now IF they are going to actually happen.

I would be shocked if Regier made any significant move before or at the trade deadline. I get the feeling that the Sabres are looking at the young players in Portland and the huge chunks of cap space to be opened up next season as excuses to not rush into any moves now. Lindy may moves some pieces around. I doubt Regier will give him anything more to work with.

IF I thought losing another 5-10 games in a row would inspire DR to make two significant moves(physical dman and a #2 scoring center), I wouldn't be mad about the losses at all.

The problem is that DR will stand pat or make a minor move(Max for a pick or a Pratt like signing) and then go back in his office where he can huddle with Quinny and convince each other that the so-called talent on this team will come around. Who can ever forget Quinny's "we have an elite defense" prior to the start of last season.

The youth on this team is not taking the next step up this season(except for Vanek) and some of the veterans are free falling(Hecht, Tallinder & Max all come to mind).

All the rest have seemed to reach their peak and what you see is what you get....Kotalik, Roy, Pominville, Stafford, Miller, Paille, Paetsch, Lydman, Spacek, etc...

...and then you have Connolly.

I hate losing, yet I used to hope that changes would be made, should they lose enough.

Those 14 games last season convinced me this will never happen, so now I just plain hate losing.

I can't believe Quinn really called our defense elite. I hope he's not in charge of our draft, especially since we don't really have a legit scouting system.

Bingo my vote as well. Losing is never something to get used too and the negatives typically outweigh any postives.

I will take responsibility for the past two years. As my wife, who is a longtime fan, pointed out, "they didn't suck until you became a fan." This is quite possibility true. I never really paid any attention to hockey until I met her. Although, to my defense, I was a fan the year they won the Pres' Cup. BUT, the last two years I was able to see them play, the lost. Judge how you will....

My god after this year and MAx and Timmy have left who are we gonna have left to blame and get rid of?? I guess if Roy and Miller keep this up we can start on the "Next Generation"...

Your wife is a longtime fan, and yet she LET you become a fan of a Buffalo sports franchise, when you had a choice?

I'd divorce her on the spot, clearly she does NOT want you to be happy - Ever.

Plus, fathers who take their kids to Sabres games should be thrown in jail for child abuse in the worst way.

/Blatant sarcasm off.

I really hate all this Darcy bashing. What is he suppose to do? this isn't NHL 09 where you can just make any trade you want. Pretty much everyone wants to dumb Max, which is fair but for crying out loud WHO wants him??????????? this isn't 1978, it's 2008 teams have scouts and film. Everyone knows Max stinks and is struggling a whole lot and not to mention he's making a lot. People also want Tallinder, also fair but why is Ruff saying all the wrong things about him?? How can a GM move a player like Tallinder after the coach doesn't believe he's ever going to regain his defensive skills lol

Darcy and Quinn along with Tommy G are the best things that happened to this organization. We are small market, we can't just gamble on player like the Rangers. It is what it is, just be happy we still have a team. Sure they should be playing better and i'm sure they will. It's not like they are totally horrible.

Well.... you could blame Darcy for signing Max to that deal..... lol

And how is Lindy saying all the bad things about him? He's a piece of crap. He hasn't been the same since ECF vs. Ottawa when he was smoked by their top line almost each time on the ice. Lindy has tried to get him back to respectful form but Hank just doesn't get it. He plays lazy. He seems like he's getting slower by the day. And he's making turnovers each and every night. The turnover on Boston's goal the other night was a high school play. No excuses for that garbage.

I'm a big Darcy fan but there is alot of flaws in his way of work and when the team doesn't have it's hidden stars breaking out, those flaws become pretty big. No defense. No grit..... same 2 reasons why Sabres didn't win a Cup yet in their last several seasons. They tried to get Zubrus so obviously they know it's a problem, but.... since he left, they got nobody for grit. Well, Bernier. And they let him go too. Without another strong power forward and a playmaking centerman this team will not do anything. Vanek needs a pass first center. Darcy has failed to get one. And no other power forwards on this team besides Gaustad, who is just a 3rd liner. Defense is too weak.

But youtube and tsn.ca give the best info on all the college and high school kids.

I'm sick of waiting for off season changes, especially when we are not a quarter way through this one

Every time the team goes into a funk, stuff like this poll comes out... What a waste of wits and bits...

That's great, you know this. I know this, Most of the people know this on this forum but at the end of the day were just spectators. Our voices don't really mean much. So if you're a GM of another team, how much are you really willing to give up now for Tallinder after Lindy just pretty much coming out and saying he sucks and probably won't get better. LOL

You think other GMs listen in to what other coaches say? If Ruff was saying good things about Max and if they were honest, he wouldn't be on the trade block in the first place. Each team scouts the players and has their own opinions. Teams spend thousands of dollars for scouting for a reason.

A team who will take on Tallinder or Max, is a team who is struggling but thinks they can re-motivate them into being a good part of their team. They won't trade for them because they saw a "Max is playing hard" quote by Lindy in the Buffalo News.

Just look at St Louis, traded 1 solid player for 2 bums. Steen was once a very highly praised prospect. Had a 18 goal rookie season and always hyped to score over 30 but never reaching his peak. Colaiacovo is another highly praised prospect who people had alot of hope for but due to injuries and then inconsistent play, ran out of favor in Toronto. Yet, St Louis send a pretty solid forward for the pair.

They got them in hopes Steen and Colaiacovo are re-energized and finally break out as late-bloomers, like a Brad Boyes that's worked out great for St Louis.

And way to mess up Lindy's quote. Not exactly what Lindy said. He said he won't get better unless he changes things and does it on his own. It's his own war. A city coach. New team. New system. New city could do wonders. It's just a matter of who's willing to give what.

Seymour and Norty just rolled over in their graves. ;)

Well played.

It is a natural reaction to get ansy when a losing streak is occuring. I am glad DR isn't to quick to pull the trigger but it is getting a bit tiresome seeing the problem...ie a decent center, and not having it rectified at all. It is time to make a move we are way under the cap. Take some extra space up and wait til the deadweight salary is off the books. No reason why we couldn't look up a #2 for picks etc right now. TG needs to let Dr pull the trigger here.
