Buffalo Fan Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 This team as constituted may not be good. I think there is a lot of good, home-grown talent, but maybe we should try to parlay some of that into proven talent. what do you think?
Supersabre Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 I would be happy with any kind of talent at this point in the season. :bag:
sabresnutinphoenix Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 Tallinder and Max look like they could be moved...
SwampD Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 As great as he is, I'm personally ready to watch a Sabres team not coached by Lindy Ruff.
Buffalo Fan Posted November 23, 2008 Author Report Posted November 23, 2008 Looking at the Knicks of the NBA, maybe the Sabres should start dumping some players with plan that involves landing 1 or 2 IMPACTFUL free agents. I really do like the home grown idea, but this is getting rediculous. How do the Red Wings continue to pluck from Sweden the BEST players?? Who is on the free agent horizon??

Claude Balls Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 As great as he is, I'm personally ready to watch a Sabres team not coached by Lindy Ruff. I'm ready to watch high school hockey. Then at least I'll know I will see players who actually care and are putting forth a genuine effort.
apuszczalowski Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 As great as he is, I'm personally ready to watch a Sabres team not coached by Lindy Ruff. I'm ready to first watch a team coached by Ruff and not built by Regier. Ruff can only do so much with what he is given. The problem isn't the coaching, its the "talent" on the team, unfortunatly for Ruff, DR thinks that Ruff can turn any players into a SC caliber team. As the league quickly changed back to pre-lockout style play, the Sabres continue to think that the league will go back to post lockout rules and are waiting for the league to adapt to them, instead ofthe other way around

It was like that before the lockout, and as it just happened the team he had assembled by then was a perfect fit for the "New NHL". The problem with Darcy is that he's yet to realise that his teams don't cut it in a physical league of interference, and clutch & grab. The "New NHL" ironically was probably the worst thing that could've happened to us, cause he actually seemed to catch on a little to the ineptness of his teams in a clutch & grab era, since he brought in guys like Mike Grier before the lockout. However our success in the no-touch year quickly threw him back into his favorite fantasy - That skill and finesse without muscle can win on a consistent basis in this league, and we're still waiting for him to snap out of it again and actually take a look around the league to see what wins games. That said, I'm also pretty tired of Ruff getting free passes every time. Losing is a team effort. I blame the current mess on everyone, and everybody should be fearing for their jobs at this point.

Very good post. I'm not sure who it was last night, I think Ray brought it up, but the problem now is that these guys are going to start questioning Lindy's system more and more, and that combined with doubt and fear can be a long term issue. The fact that they all have to sit and wait until Wednesday (only to play the hottest team in the league) is like poison festering. I hope our Captain takes charge of this poop sandwhich and tells it like it is, these guys need to be woken up. Oh ya, :censored: 'n move Max and Connolly already!! Drop 'em off at the Greyhound station downtown, do something, but don't let them sit up there in that press box for 1 more game. We may not be winning, but we're no worse without them. Time for a new avatar with a REAL jersey on, only I don't know who that is yet......
