Buffalo Fan Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 Andrew Peters seems like a good team player in a lot of respects...but as an enforcer, I find him incredibly lacking. Sure, he has the size, and probably the ability to woop up on a lot of folks...but he doesn't seem to have the willingness to take a beating....The enforcers job is to help emotionally change the tide of a game or season whether it means giving OR taking a beating. Rob Ray went in to every fight thinking...make that NOT thinking about his own welfare. Peters always seems to go in with a "how do I get out of this without a scratch?" approach. A guy who is literally willing to put it all on the line is a guy that everyone on the team is willing to go to bat for. Rob Ray LEAD with his head in most fights, especially the ones where he was outsized...which was most of them....Peters never gets in to a fight with a "torpedoes be damned" attitude. LET's GO BUFFALO!!!
apuszczalowski Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 How many "enforcers" are there available in the league like that though? Rob Ray was great at what he did, but finding another one is not as easy as it looks. I give Peters credit for atleast being willing to step up and fight and knowing that that is his role on the team. He doesn't complain for more ice time, he doesn't complain when he is placed in the press box, and he doesn't turtle when guys come after him, unlike some "tough guys"
Claude Balls Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 That was another big dude he got popped by tonight. 6'8". It really didn't look like Petey wanted to swing away with him, he was burying his head in Fritz's chest until he took a wicked upper cut. I was shocked when Paetsch dropped the gloves and wanted to get it on, but the other dude wanted no part and skated away.

When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Nathan Paetsch.

He's a disgrace and a embarrassment. RJ had the line of the year so far when Peters and the big guy were about to go RJ said something like "this guy can fight as well as Peters can" The image of two guys skating in a circle at arms length turning their heads away for five minutes immediately popped in my head.

Unintentionally funny. Seems to me Paetsch has fought before and done quite well. I'll have to look it up. I'm very high on Paetsch and can't quite figure out why he's one of the whipping boys.

That was actually made in jest, using a Chuck Norris joke, but you can see a couple of Nathan's fights here. Apparently young Mr. Paetsch was quite the little scrapper in his 04-05 Amerks campaign - 10 fights that year.

I had to believe it for a minute (although it was quite hard to) because just seeing a Sabres throw the gloves down like that was quite the surprise. I think he knows it may be his only chance to stay here, to play the tough guy that is.
