Put Max in Press Box

I just don't get why Ruff continues to dress Max only to get frustrated and bench him by the middle of the second period most nights. There's no more mystery with max...you know what you're going to get. And if there's one thing this organization has it's depth at right wing. Only reason I can think Max is still playing is in some hope he has a one or two week stretch of decent games so they can move him to another team. But in the meantime...he's KILLING this team with his turnovers in the netural and offense zones and his unwillingness to take or win any pucks on the wall in the defensive zone when the opposing dman challenges him up the wall. Winning THAT puck and making THAT first pass to get out of the zone are the most important jobs of the wingers in this team's system. :wallbash:

Don't believe any of the spin that Max had no trade value. DR could deal him in a heartbeat if he lowered his asking price. In the meantime, he leaves his "buddy" Lindy to deal with Max's antics. It could be that DR is making the call on Max being in the lineup. It wouldn't be the first time a GM pulled rank on his coach.

What value does he have? If fans know what Max is and the Sabres know what Max is it would make sense that other teams can easily see what Max is. As much as I would like to see Max shipped out I cant imagine a team that would be willing to take him.

Would you take a 3rd or 4th round pick for him? IMO...teams starved for offense would love to take a chance on Max.

I would but if he can't give us any offense, what can he offer other teams?

The Sabres are starved for offense so I would see it as a tough sell. To answer your question I would take a 6th or 7th for Max just to get his contract off the books.

Want to believe it or not, they have had three trades on the table since draft day. Its how DR operates. Does anyone remember Craig Patrick telling all that he offered Stu Barnes for Barnaby months before Darcy accepted. He keeps hoping for more, it drives Lindy and more then a few others nuts and eventually it either gets done or the other team moves on.

Darcy's supporters will point to his successes and say his patience pays off. Those with a more cynical view will ask what deals he lost because of his conservatism and patience. Can anyone say Iginla for Peca??

Might as well get used to it because as long as the team is competetive and continues to make money none of the three LQ, DR or LR are going anywhere nor do I want them to at this point.

Link? I remember hearing we were offered a 2nd or 3rd rounder from Vancouver on draft day.... but to have 3 deals on the table SINCE draft day? I kinda don't buy it. How do you know.... ?

Really that can be the only logical conclusion that they keep showcasing him hoping he has a couple of those 5 pt break through nights....

Thats my problem with my statement above, if he has a couple of those nights I mention, we'll over price him and expect a 1st and 2nd rounder or have amnesia and decide he's too valuable to trade right now and keep him...

Like I said, believe it or not. If I were a betting man, though, I'd bet Vancouver, Washington, St Louis

I remember hearing about Max to Washington or St Louis on hockeybuzz.com. So i'm gonna pass on believing it.

Had a nice save tonight, though, didn't he?

Eh, it was ok. I wish it would have gone off his face so he'd have to miss some time with a facial injury, but tonight just wasn't our night.

Or Max just wasn't your Connolly.

I am so sick of this guy. I wouldn't care if they waive him or outright cut him. He is totally useless. Brings nothing to the table except speed which is always wasted. Get a new move already. How many times can he skate up the ice, go wide and turn the puck over? Trade him to Siberia for a case of Stoli. Should have traded him THREE years ago when he had a bit of value. Worst player on the team.

3 years ago the NHL was becoming Max's type of NHL where fast players could thrive. The NHL is regressing though and thats left Max out again. Max isn't "bad" he's just obsolete.

I'd like to see him traded, I'm sure we could find a home for him just don't expect much back. Darcy has to be careful though, if Max goes elsewhere and explodes the backlash could be huge for not getting more for him. We can't just trade him for a 7th round pick, we'd be getting gyp'd. He needs to get something that fills a hole, like a knuckle dragging blue liner or a journeymen 2 way center type guy. Nothing flashy, but he does have some trade value.

I personally pledge, here and now, to respond to any such backlash by reference every thread like this one. If, by some miracle, he does explode and someone calls Darcy out for not getting more, he/she will be quickly reminded that we all want him traded away for a bag of pucks. There will be no revisionist history on my watch. It is the right move given what we know right now. No matter what Max does after he is traded, that will not change, because it wouldn't change what we know right now, when the decision is actually made. Trade him!

Haha, I feel ya. But they can use Max to fill small hole rather than just ditching him off for nothing. The deals are out there I bet, but GM's are probably busy sifting through what they have still and figuring out what to move and what to add. It's November though, maybe we'll see something soon.

We're not gonna get anything big for him, but we should be able to get something we need.

I'll second this.
