Spudz Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 A musculoskeletal injury is nothing to laugh about, I hope he's alright, whether it's here or somewhere else. I'm sure we all hope he's okay. Nobody likes to see injuries, and I would certainly expect no matter how bad he messes up the sabres that no one would ever wish injury or take satisfaction in his injury. That being said, I don't know how serious it is (i have no friends on the d-lo) but looking up some stuff on musculoskeletal injuries the word is scarier than it seems. http://www.faqs.org/sports-science/Mo-Pl/M...l-Injuries.html -Approximately 25% of all athletes will expect to sustain a musculoskeletal injury in a 12-month period. -Back injuries are the next most prominent occurrence, at 11% -The majority of these injuries are resolved without significant long-term consequences I really think it is just a sore back, and hopefully he can play in a couple games. I wouldn't expect any other player to be 100% in dealing with this and maybe miss a game or two. It is just the frequency with Connolly that is mind boggling.
That Aud Smell Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 the FO couldn't have guessed in their worst possible scenario that he would have been out that whole year and now all of this BS let me clarify: i'm talking about the FO's decision this past off-season to go forward with connolly penciled in as our #2 center, not the 3-year extension they gave him in 2006.
LabattBlue Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 A musculoskeletal injury is nothing to laugh about... Who's laughing? Most people are really pissed off! :nana:
ROC Sabres Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 let me clarify: i'm talking about the FO's decision this past off-season to go forward with connolly penciled in as our #2 center, not the 3-year extension they gave him in 2006. That's what I thought you meant in the first place and I agree with it. Just giving another perspective on the situation along with yours.
nfreeman Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 but honestly, there's just no disputing that the frustration should be directed at the FO -- they took this risk with their eyes wide open, and they (we) have lost. let me clarify: i'm talking about the FO's decision this past off-season to go forward with connolly penciled in as our #2 center, not the 3-year extension they gave him in 2006. It chafes me too that this is the case, but I don't think the FO had a choice. I don't think they could've afforded to write off the $2.4 million for a buyout, and I don't think any other team would've traded for him. It's just too much money/cap hit for a guy with that bad of an injury history. (As opposed to the Max situation, where I think they probably could've unloaded him for a low draft pick, but DR felt he was worth more).
rbochan Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Is it his body? Or, is it a lack of heart. Tin Man is missing another game tonight not because a part of his body is broken, strained or detached. He is out because he is sore. There isn't a player that has played a shift in the NHL this season that isn't sore. I have come to the conclusion that Connolly isn't hurt at all. He is just trying to stay out of the lineup to avoid injury so he can sign a free agent contract somewhere. He'll play just enough games to show his flashes of brilliance to entice some idiot GM to give him another contract. I'm sure Kevin Lowe already has the offer sheet filled out. It's funny you say that. It's funny mostly because he played 14:15 full strength and 6:51 on the PP last Friday - TWO FULL DAYS after the supposed "injuring" hit from Tkachuk.

Well sure, he played, but then he was sore after that. Did you hear that? He played and then was sore. Can you imagine? Played, then sore. Oh the humanity!!!

thesportsbuff Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 He'll still put up as many points as Roy & Staff combined tonight. Bitch all you want about how the FO botched the whole thing, but until Roy and Stafford start playing like the great players they're supposed to be, I'll keep Connolly around for the pure fact that I enjoy watching Sabres games when he's on the ice, and for the last few weeks, I haven't when he's not.
