LabattBlue Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 I'm speechless. DR needs to make a deal for a #2 center now. He is going to need one next year anyways for when TC is giving his walking papers, so why not get the jump on things and make the move now. Not to steal Inky's thunder(as he is the one who had come up with the diagnosis for the tinman), but week to week for a sore titty? <_<
nfreeman Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 I'm not going to blame Connolly for not having a body that can stand up to NHL punishment, but I will blame the Sabres for not seeing this coming and bringing in another center.

Corp000085 Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 so let me get this straight: he gets the wind knocked the f out of him on wednesday, plays a shift then takes himself out of the game, misses practice on thursday and friday morning, plays friday night (and is the only player to actually play well), sits out saturday, and now is basically out indefinitely? Seriously? LTIR the guy now, call up some AHLers, give the guy till the trading deadline to get "healthy", then trade him to a western conference contender for whatever they'll offer. I know I know, "he makes the sabres so much better when he plays". Well you know what, that excuse is stupid. Get rid of this guy now... LTIR till march, then make him some WC rental player.
Goodfella25 Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 How many of us saw this coming a mile away? I remember lots of us posting in the thread about DR press conference over the summer when he said they were confident with TC as the #2 center. Many of us said it was a stupid decision to place so much faith in a totally unreliable player. If only DR read this board! Is there a way we can knock Sundin out and have someone move his hand to sign on the dotted line for a 2-year deal? Because that would be nice. Other than that, what else is out there this time of year? Wait, nevermind. As if our front office should make such a bold move! A trade during the season? That is crazy talk!
Bmwolf21 Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Blue nailed it...speechless. I agree with Corp - let's LTIR him right now and get it over with. Can we negotiate an injury settlement with him, a la the NFL? Maybe the under wire broke and caused some sort of infection. That's downright :censored: ing funny right there.
deluca67 Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 I'm not trying to start a rumor here. I'm just asking a simple question so put the flame throwers away. Is it possible that with all the injuries Connolly has suffered that he may have developed some dependency issues? It's not unheard of that athletes would enhance claims of pain to gain their medication of choice. I haven't heard any rumors on this. I'm just tossing it out there for discussion. It did happened to Brett Farve for example.
inkman Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Is it possible that with all the injuries Connolly has suffered that he may have developed some dependency issues? I must admit there are rumors of Tim's dependency. He just can't seem to shake that Summers Eve...

Not to ask a stupid question, but doesn't this whole Connolly debacle affect team (and not so much as fan) morale?

Signing injury prone centers to multiyear deals then stating how comfortable you are heading into the season with said player as your #2 center on a team weak down the middle like nothing else however, is. Oh, who gives a flying crap anyway, we all knew this was coming, and seeing as Connolly may have played well this season, the rest of the team has blown chunks since he came back, so goodbye Tim and good riddance.
ROC Sabres Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Well, I knew it would happen. And for those of you who didn't see the article on bleacher report, I think you're in for a treat. Link

nucci Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Take this how ever you want. My brother knows one of the team doctors. He asked about Connolly and all the Dr would say was, 'Timmy plays when Timmy wants to play'. Time to let him go. It has to affect the other players.

This sounds very believable, but if true, why would DR not trade him in the offseason and bring in a #2 center via FA or trade?
Spudz Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 I just got into work, and was listening to WGR550 on the way in. When I heard the term Connolly and upper musculoskeletal injury I almost drove off the road. WTF is upper musculoskeletal injury? http://www.wgr550.com/Connolly-Week-To-Week/3341910 Paul Hamilton reports that it is an “upper musculoskeletal injury”. The musculoskeletal system provides form, stability and movement to the human body. It's primary functions include supporting the body, allowing motion, and protecting vital organs. It will sideline him indefinitely. :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: I was going to try to make a joke in this post, but its not funny anymore.
Kristian Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 This sounds very believable, but if true, why would DR not trade him in the offseason and bring in a #2 center via FA or trade? I doubt Timmy has any trade value whatsoever, as the word is probably out on him. As to why no moves were made? Finances. We're at the limit of our self-imposed cap, and as long as Timmy sucks up his 3 mill., he's on the team. At least that's how it seems. Time to waive him, or buy him our perhaps. Run some damage control.
nucci Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 This sounds very believable, but if true, why would DR not trade him in the offseason and bring in a #2 center via FA or trade? Great question. Since he is getting free money anyway, just buy him out and release him. I used to defend him because he is so talented but I'm done. This is ridiculous.

Well, effectively it means "we've run out of believable injuries to mask the fact that Timmy doesn't like playing hockey".

I used to defend him because he is so talented but I'm done. This is ridiculous. You nailed it. I, too, felt the same way about Connolly in the past. I kept thinking of the ONE season, 05/06, he had. I guess Darcy and company were thinking the same thing. It is time to part ways. Just rip off the band aid! Don't put it off slowly. I'm sick of the front office being so hesitant and unwilling to make a bold move.

Link Absolutely great, spot on article. This has to take a toll on the rest of the team mentally. I am too lazy to do it, but I would be interested to see all his injuries and time out of the lineup itemized. That would be very interesting.
