BamBam Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 I think we have all taken notice of what the Pirates are doing, but if you were in control what players would you bring up at this point of the season for a shot? Is anyone ready?
LabattBlue Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 I'd bring up Mancari & Weber for Wednesday's game. Stick Mancari on a line with Roy & Vanek and give him time on the PP. Throw him out there and see how he responds. I'd also sit the Marlboro Man and Third Man In and play Paetsch and Weber. If you need to send down Kaleta in order to do this, then so be it.
bob_sauve28 Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 I'd say the only bright spot in this mess is that the farm does have some talent. Stafford, Max, Paille all look like they might not live up to potential, to say the least. Yes, some of them should be given more time, but as off now they are not producing. Kaleta hasn't scored in a while. Hecht looks ordinary after his injury. Connelly doesn't play much. Roy is looking average. Mair, Pomminstein and Vanek are the only bright spots at forward. This team looks like it has a flat tire

This team looks like it has a flat tire ......I think its time to show Max the door, then maybe take a a peek at Mancari, but you also have Kennedy and Gerbe lighting up the AHL, And wasent Weber like a +13 in his late season call up last year?....seems like our defense could use a shot in the arm as well. I think the young kids on the farm are playing a little hungrier then their NHL counterparts, so maybe a little infusion of that life can spark this team. We have the talent i think we just need a little tweaking.
carpandean Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 Mair, Pomminstein and Vanek are the only bright spots at forward. This team looks like it has a flat tire MacArthur, too. Not much was expected of him this year, but he is playing hard and well.
sabres + amerks 4ever Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 We shouldn't call anyone up yet. They need more experience. Let them dominate the AHL level.
LabattBlue Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 We shouldn't call anyone up yet. They need more experience. Let them dominate the AHL level. I won't speak for anyone else, but when I say bring them up, I am talking about for a few games to maybe wake up the rest of the roster. This would be the case with Gerbe, Kennedy & Weber. Mancari has enough experience as a professional to come up and stay if he shows anything.

Take a look at Portland's record for simple enough proof. Let them show these multi-million dollar pansies how it can be done.
Guest Sloth Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 I agree w/ most of you on here. Bring up Mancari and Weber. Bench Lydman and Roy. Something needs to fire up Roy. Maybe some time off will do that. I can see how that can back fire, though...
nfreeman Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 The problem with bringing up Mancari for a few games is that (I believe) he can't be sent back down without clearing waivers. So I don't see them bringing him up unless we trade/waive at least 2 forwards on the Sabres' current roster.

He said if it was for a very short period of time (10 games I think), we could be sent back down without waivers. I recently heard Darcy say on WGR that the only player that would be worthy of a call up would be Mancari, everyone else is too young. (I believe this was related to forwards only)

(I believe this was related to forwards only) I find it hard to believe that those were Darcy's exact words. Besides the fact that we are talking about the fact that Gerbe is only two years younger then Mancari and Kennedy one year, Darcy has been on record as saying that major college hockey experience changes the need for extended AHL experience. Couple that with the fact that there are probably at least thirty players in the league younger then Gerbe or Kennedy and I don't think age is an issue and I don't think Darcy thinks so either. All that said, I think they bring up Mancari or Darche first anyway.
stenbaro Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 I would bring up Dineen.....
