inkman Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 showed the difference between a good player, like Mac, who goes to the net at the right time in the play, gets his stick on the hard pass and gets the shot on net, and an elite goal scorer, like Vanek, who does all of the above AND puts the puck where the goalie isn't. ...and then there is the player like Max, who goes the net with no one else in the zone, shoots a shot that has no chance of going in, only to miss the net and send the puck careening in the opposite direction, giving the opposition an odd man rush.
BuffalOhio Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 (on a head shot, by the way, that is legal now but I think should be banned and that should be a suspension-level hit). Not a head shot. Sorry, but Tkachuk's body contacted Tim's rib cage. Connolly got whiplashed down to the ice from the hit, but it was NOT a head shot.
Stoner Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Good call. That MacArthur play, btw, showed the difference between a good player, like Mac, who goes to the net at the right time in the play, gets his stick on the hard pass and gets the shot on net, and an elite goal scorer, like Vanek, who does all of the above AND puts the puck where the goalie isn't. (Of course, Vanek had about 5 great scoring chances and didn't convert any, so my point is fairly questionable). Vanek, who does all of the above AND puts the puck where the goalie isn't... and hits the post.

OK, Grams. Did the Sabres win 3 to 4 last night?
inkman Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Shoots a shot? OK, Grams. Did the Sabres win 3 to 4 last night? You are so cute when you are grumpy...
nfreeman Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Not a head shot. Sorry, but Tkachuk's body contacted Tim's rib cage. Connolly got whiplashed down to the ice from the hit, but it was NOT a head shot. I disagree. Connolly was leaning over with his head down and Tkachuk nailed him straight on -- ie Connolly's head was hit first. Unfortunately, I can't find it on youtube, so there isn't much point to debating it just yet.
R_Dudley Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I'm getting worried about the hit margin too. Sabres have been getting pummeled in this category the last three games. We have plenty of bangers, whats the deal?? If I have one gripe with this team this is it, we almost never, I mean hardly ever finish our checks, as a team we would rather stick check than body check. Tinman...bruised upper body per Lindy :wallbash: Not believing it sorry, based on Lindy's past revelations I'm pretty sure he's in the ICU on life support. Did anyone hear the pre-game interview with the Blues coach? He was referencing the strategy against the Sabres saying they know they have to take the body hard against Buffalo...seems like word is spreading that teams will start trying to push us around..... Bingo That little girl is going to get PWNED! All I have to say is last year we lost those games. Ended closer than I wanted, but it's a step in the right direction. True that and defitely the silver lining here. That book has been out for a while now... Unfortunatley you are dead on with that ... Yeah, but those hits happen at least once per game and for the most part, the players might miss a shift or two.... Earlier in the game when he went coast to coast, he made a nice move around a defender near center ice and I said to myself, if he keeps trying to lug the puck from end to end dancing his way through the opposition, he is bound to get hit and get injured. I don't know how much more of this he can take. Aside from that, he is entertaining to watch.....UNTIL That is the problem with his history if he is going to do that dipsy doodling he needs to keep his head up and bail out of the play before the hit or he's toast......
shrader Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 -Get Kotalik off the top line. He sucked from start to finish. Makes a dumb pass in the first period when he is in point blank on the goalie and a giveaway on the 3rd Blues goal. Maybe it's the fact that Vanek has about 85 goals so far, but Roy's been passing the puck way too much this year too. They aren't of that Kotalik last night variety, but he's tried to force a lot of stupid passes through traffic. He really needs to clean that up.
inkman Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 If I have one gripe with this team this is it, we almost never, I mean hardly ever finish our checks, as a team we would rather stick check than body check. Yes.
Mike Oxhurtz Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I can't believe it's been since Oct 22, 1995 since the Sabres beat the Blues at home. I remember that game in 95' very specifically because that is when & where I bought my 1st legal beer. Damn that brings back memories!!
spndnchz Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Lindy's comment. http://sabres.nhl.com/team/app/?service=pa...16&iid=9045 10 minutes long. Timbo hurt his tummy, questionable for Friday. Max and Vanek being punished Hit posts, crossbar, missing the net Late game lockdown. Lindy says that between Yolks and the General he doesn't care who plays center. He'll give the job to the first one back, second back get the wing. Says Kaleta will be in one of the next two games. He comments on Peca.
