Hawerchuk Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 What's your point? The guy can't stay healthy. Dude, he got hit super hard by the Chucker!! I'll give Timmy a pass on this one. Plus his head was up, just a solid hit. C'mon.
sabres + amerks 4ever Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 All I have to say is last year we lost those games. Ended closer than I wanted, but it's a step in the right direction. Agreed BUT The Sabres let the Blues hang in the game that should have been a blowout. Just like the Thrashers game. These are habits the Sabres need to drop if they're going to be a serious Cup Contender.
SabresFan526 Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 How long until the "Timmy's hurt again" thread rears its ugly head? I'll go one further, that hit looked like a head shot/whiplash/neck injury/concussion. That looked like a career-ender given his concussion history, although I certainly hope not. I hope I'm wrong as he's played quite well recently. I only saw the third and was not too pleased, but a win is a win. I like the Goose-Paille-Mair line a lot. We should keep that line together. Missed most of the game and noticed that Peters and Max did not play a single shift in the third. I think Max had some PP time and that was it. He must have really done something bad it looks like. Nice to see Tallinder score the game winner. How did everyone else play for the most part?

Claude Balls Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Dude, he got hit super hard by the Chucker!! I'll give Timmy a pass on this one. Plus his head was up, just a solid hit. C'mon. Yeah, but those hits happen at least once per game and for the most part, the players might miss a shift or two. This is Connolly and when he gets hit, no matter how hard, he seems to always miss a week or two, or a month or two. We all know the drill with him now. He's definitely not worth the $$$. Earlier in the game when he went coast to coast, he made a nice move around a defender near center ice and I said to myself, if he keeps trying to lug the puck from end to end dancing his way through the opposition, he is bound to get hit and get injured. I don't know how much more of this he can take. Aside from that, he is entertaining to watch.....UNTIL
Eleven Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 - Max was benched basically because he was giving the puck away too much. Vanek "lost some shifts" near the end of the game for the same reason. Max was horrible in the first. And I think I do more than my share of defending the guy on this board. But he just was horrible.
BuffalOhio Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 My guess is shoulder... I would guess ribs.
wonderbread Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I would guess ribs. I freaking love ribs.
nfreeman Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 -Connolly with a nice game. Please tell me he is not hurt badly. -Vanek should have had a hat trick tonight! -Mason was very good for the Blues! Right on. I'll go one further, that hit looked like a head shot/whiplash/neck injury/concussion. That looked like a career-ender given his concussion history, although I certainly hope not. I hope I'm wrong as he's played quite well recently. How did everyone else play for the most part? Connolly was awesome tonight. His pass to Pommer on the goal was great, his between-the-legs shot in tight was really bitchen, and he was in on what seemed like 5 or 6 other very sweet scoring chances. However, it seemed to me like he was playing a risky game in terms of cutting into the middle and handling the puck in traffic, and he really got nailed (on a head shot, by the way, that is legal now but I think should be banned and that should be a suspension-level hit). I immediately thought he was concussed and later thought it was possible that tonight was his last game as a Sabre. He then missed a shift, then came out for 1 PP shift (not an even-strength shift where he would've had to check and be checked), and at the end of the PP shift, went immediately to the dressing room according to Razor. And I don't believe anything Lindy says about injuries. If Connolly isn't playing on Friday night I'm going to believe it's a concussion. Otherwise, I thought it was a very exciting game. STL played like a cornered animal -- nasty and desperate. They had somewhat of a physical advantage but not lopsidedly so. We played pretty well on both ends. We generated a ton of scoring chances and didn't give up many -- they just cashed in a much higher percentage of theirs than we did. In particular: Vanek had a least 5 good scoring chances. He was a force even though he didn't score (and Lindy evidently benched him briefly for turning it over) Max was benched for almost all of the 2nd and 3rd periods, and was really ripped a new one by Lindy in the post-game presser Miller was decent if unspectacular Rivet still doesn't look 100% we got 2 very similar goals from Tallinder and Mair off of great shots from the slot Paille and Gaustad skated and checked well Peters got in two fights that were both uneventful wrestling matches ending in draws (and he drew high praise from Lindy) Pommer-Connolly-Hecht was our best line the rest of the D group (other than Rivet) looked pretty solid. I'd like to see Lalime on Friday. And don't be surprised if we see Kaleta instead of Connolly.
wonderbread Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 very nice. Even nicer with beer. Nice breakdown on tonights game, etc.
bob_sauve28 Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Pommer-Connolly-Hecht was our best line And always look good together. Let's hope they can play together again
deluca67 Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 How long until the "Timmy's hurt again" thread rears its ugly head? Maybe if they wrapped him in bubble wrap before each game it wouldn't be an issue. If Tiny Timmy is out for any extended period of time the Sabres need to shut him down for the season and toss him in the what could have been pile.
... Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 A concussion? Some of you are smoking crack. He got right up after that hit. It's probably not a big deal.

Finishing the play after receiving a concussion is actually not that uncommon. You don't have be out like a light to suffer a really mean one either, but that said it could just as easily be a stiff neck which is pretty difficult to play with, if it keeps tightening up.

Claude Balls Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 A concussion? Some of you are smoking crack. He got right up after that hit. It's probably not a big deal. He has an upper body bruise. With Timmy, that could be career threatening.

They could put Tiny Timmy in outer space and he'd get hit with an asteroid.
thesportsbuff Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I hate to sound like a Jack-Ass, but Tim Connolly is the man. I told you guys so. If he could just stay healthy, he'd be one best players in the league. OOOOOPPPS! :death: touch? punk <_<

LabattBlue Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Dude, he got hit super hard by the Chucker!! I'll give Timmy a pass on this one. Plus his head was up, just a solid hit. C'mon. Players get hit every game, 80 games a year and most don't get hurt. I am a big supporter of Connolly's from a talent perspective and I'd even be willing to sign him to a new contract if he could at least show me that he can stay healthy for the majority of a season, but based on what happened in training camp and to-date in the regular season, I doubt that will ever happen. If he is in the lineup tomorrow and Saturday, then I am making a big deal out of nothing.
LabattBlue Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 One other note on the game. Nothing is more fristrating than watching a player with a good scoring chance miss the net. In the case of Derek Roy, I saw this twice(not counting his goal post shot). Get the puck on the net. I'd rather see MacArthur hit the goalie in the chest(which he did on the 2 on 1) instead of a shot that misses the net.

That MacArthur play, btw, showed the difference between a good player, like Mac, who goes to the net at the right time in the play, gets his stick on the hard pass and gets the shot on net, and an elite goal scorer, like Vanek, who does all of the above AND puts the puck where the goalie isn't. (Of course, Vanek had about 5 great scoring chances and didn't convert any, so my point is fairly questionable).
