wildcat48 Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Kennedy nets winner in shootout for Portland Portland, ME Tim Kennedy scored in the eight round of the shootout to give the Portland Pirates their fifth straight victory, sixth in seven games as they defeated the Springfield Falcons, 2-1, in front of 4,706 at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Friday night. Kennedy had his point-scoring streak snapped at nine games, but was more than happy to take the two points on the night. Carrying the puck into the zone, Kennedy pulled Falcons goalie Devan Dubnyk out of position before sending a quick snap shot past his blocker for the win. Link>>>>
inkman Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Hey, I still have the Amerks. :( This post in no way describes the amount of disappointment, frustration, and anger I am feeling about this whole situation.
LabattBlue Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 IMO...Allowing the same player in the shootout more than once(prior to all other players shooting) is a dumb rule.
el_Polako Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 IMO...Allowing the same player in the shootout more than once(prior to all other players shooting) is a dumb rule. I fully agree. Also Ink, i'm sorry that you're an Amerk fan, but after that whole fiasco with Donner and Amerk fans taking his side i honestly hope the Sabres never return to Rochester. Overall the Amerks fan base isn't worthy of a team not to mention a great team that the Sabres could provide.

Overall the Amerks fan base isn't worthy of a team not to mention a great team that the Sabres could provide. It's a huge shame that we're talking about the Pirates and not the Amerks (as the Sabres affiliate) and it's harsh to blame some Amerks fans for acting with their heart instead of their head regarding the Donner fiasco. Never say never but in any case... GO PIRATES! :chris:
el_Polako Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 it's harsh to blame some Amerks fans for acting with their heart instead of their head regarding the Donner fiasco. Naa, Amerk fans for the most part are fools and they got what they deserve and that's a crappy team haha I've had so many pointless arguments with Amerk fans during the whole fiasco, them mocking Tommy G, Sabres, Sabres fans... that honestly i just wish (and yes it's bitter on my part) that the team folds and moves the f**k out. This stupid city and it's so called hockey fans don't deserve a team.
nobody Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 IMO...Allowing the same player in the shootout more than once(prior to all other players shooting) is a dumb rule. What's the rule - after the first 5 you can have the same players take all the rest?
LabattBlue Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 What's the rule - after the first 5 you can have the same players take all the rest? Not even sure. I just noticed Kennedy shooting twice in the boxscore.
shrader Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Wildcat, is there any chance we can get an update on the one guy that we all actually want to hear about, Chris Butler? :D I've been sold on the idea that he was the best prospect out of the college signings, but you never hear anything about the defensemen, especially with the numbers that top line is putting up.
Two or less Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 What's the rule - after the first 5 you can have the same players take all the rest? Yeah. After 5 shooters, anyone can go.

LOL...... Who wants to talk about Butler...... :D First, the shootout rule... The team selects five players who shoot, if it goes to sudden death then the team has the option of selecting another player from the bench or going to same players in the orginal five. In fact, in sudden death, a player can shoot the puck back-to-back. As for Butler, he's been all hands on deck. A real steady D-man who doesn't take foolish penalties and is very conscious about positioning. He's rarely caught out of position and has been one of the Pirates better D-men especially with Gragnani and Baier moving up front with all the injuries. He's a quiet guy off the ice so you don't really hear a lot from him, he just does his job and does it very well.
