billsrcursed Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Spacek got worked tonight, hard. Dare I say Tallinder was one of our better D men tonight?? That's awful, but our guys looked to be standing around all night. I was expecting Rivet to be a little more physical in the 2nd and 3rd, but I think his injury is still lingering a little. He looked kinda "off". Oh well, hope they show up tomorrow night. I expect Lalime to put on a good show....... he may have to if our D plays like they did tonight.
nfreeman Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Well, I didn't think it was that bad. On paper (or screen), yes, you really want to get 2 points out of the "Thrashers" (what a cheesy name that is, anyway), but that was a highly entertaining game. And while Miller didn't play great, the only goal I thought was poor was the 2nd (breakaway that slid under his body). On White's putback from the slot, Miller gave up a fat rebound, but it was off a really hard, high slapper from pretty close in that he caught in the upper chest. If it was anyone's fault, it was Rivet's for not tying up White. I think James Patrick was right about the team not playing the system tightly enough (paraphrasing, but that was what I interpreted Razor's barely understandable sideline report to mean), and we definitely gave up too many chances. It was a pretty run-and-gun type game where their goalie made more big saves than ours. And Vanek's move behind the net to stick it back late in the 3rd was an incredible move and was probably a goal (although the video definitely wasn't enough to rule it a goal), which would've given us the regulation win. I also saw a ton of really nice individual plays -- Gaustad laying out big hits, Sekera and Teppo making great moves to take possession of the puck in our zone and get it out, Max skating hard, Vanek threatening around the net, Kotalik shooting and skating, etc. Bottom line though is that we aren't going to win enough games without playing tighter, more consistent defense. I'd like to see Lalime in a bounceback effort tomorrow night.
LabattBlue Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 One other thing...F*** OFF Kozlov!
BuffalOhio Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 One other thing...F*** OFF Kozlov you cross-eyed F***! Fixed that for you, Labatt....

That was some funny shiznick! I think I'll grab a beer after that. Anyone else think Max played good hockey tonight? The guy created scoring chances and put one in himself. I thought Max played great hockey tonight.
inkman Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 What That is where I stopped reading. You may have a lot to say after a game but cramming that many words into one post sends me running for the hills.
SwampD Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 I just got done watching on the DVR. I effing hate that little rat faced ref(not Frazier) calling the game tonite. He thinks he's bigger than the game. Roy was getting worked all night with no call and then that jack stain has the balls to call him on a trip to decide the game. BS. EDIT: I forgot about the neck tackle on Max in the third. Again...BS.
2ForTripping Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 A key to tonight is do not play down to Atlanta , which we have done in the past years. We did it again, and we did when we lost in the shoot out in the Thrashers building a few weeks ago. Arrrrrgh!

I'd like to see Lalime in a bounceback effort tomorrow night. I couldn't agree more... Sure you want to win and sure you hate giving bottom feeder teams points on your ice, but it was a decent game to watch... The Sabres were playing physical, scoring goals, clicking on the PP, etc.. The difference between good teams and bad teams in the NHL isn't that great. This board reverts into they played like last year whenever the Sabres lose and the other team manages to score 4 or more goals... There are going to be lots of games like this over the course of a season. THIS IS NOT LAST YEAR'S TEAM!!!! A 1-0. 1-1, 2-1, 2-2, 3-2, 3-3, 4-3, 4-4, 5-4 (OT) game was pretty entertaining.... On to Boston... Love the town, hate their teams.... Red Sox  Bruins:  Celtics:  Patriots:   And yes, it's envy....
carpandean Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 edit: I guess if i'm going to have the thread open at a specific time, i should hide it till then! Anyhow, its open now. So, wait, is the bad luck thing with GDTs "24 hours before" or "day of"? I have always gone with the 24 hour rule. I wanted to make the thread and have it open at midnight to fulfill the day of rule, but i screwed it up, soi just opened it early. I can't post tomorrow morning cause i'm driving to buffalo early. So, you can blame me if we lose tomorrow. BLAMED!! :nana:

EDIT: I forgot about the neck tackle on Max in the third. Again...BS. I agree completely. The refs let a few rough plays, one being Max, that should've been called for a penalty last night. This goes for both teams. What ticks me off is that the refs often don't call a penalty on a dangerous play that by rule is a penalty. Yet, they'll call a minor hook as a penalty. I was PISSED when a penalty wasn't called on the Max play. Players are not being protected by the refs and cheap hits and injuries are going to increase.
X. Benedict Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Don't care much for that tripping penalty in OT...but them the brakes. They out-played an inferior team and unfortunately Miller's rebounds looked like them big gumballs. Those nights happen. Take the point.
