Realist Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Damn! We should be crushing them right now. Weekes is playing fantastic. Buffalo needs to come out like this the next period. When we do fly around like this, they tend to lighten up after an intermission, lets hope they can keep it going.
darksabre Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 This is entirely Craig Rivet's fault.
wjag Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 This is entirely Craig Rivet's fault. :worthy:
thesportsbuff Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Connolly + Kotalik at the point made my whole day. I love it when Lindy goes balls out to try and get the PP clicking. Connolly is perfect for the point and Kotalik has a cannon that I've been calling for since 06.
Stoner Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 That beatdown started about five seconds in. Kotalik nails a Devil at center ice. Al is fired up.

SabresFan526 Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 The Sabres just dominated that 4-on-4. I, honestly, have not seen the Sabres this dominant of an effort in a long time. Seriously, this looks like the Red Wings puck possession game when Bowman was there. Unfortunately, they only have one goal to show for it. The effort and puck possession has been phenomenal. Does Rivet make that much of a difference in terms of effort for the entire team? Or is the fear of another Lindy practice the reason the guys are playing like this? If only they could get another goal. I'm just loving the performance, though.
wjag Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Passes are crisp, Buffalo is winning EVERY puck battle.. Where has this game been???

BetweenThePipes00 Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Wow what a great save by Miller on the re-direct ... need to kill this penalty and get the next one, letting them hang around too long for as good as the Sabres are playing. It's their best game of the year by far.
SCSabresFan! Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I have the NHL ticket, but not Versus. This sucks.
wjag Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Buffalo PKers got trapped out there with the long change... Lucky Miller stopped Elias. You can tell they were tired... Buffalo Timeout..
BetweenThePipes00 Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Connolly is playing a great game on the PK and in general in his own end ... blocking shots, etc ... credit where it is due ...
markj Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I have the NHL ticket, but not Versus. This sucks. Well at least you can still listen to Rick. That's what I'm doin'.
SabresFan526 Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 The Devils really won that period. The Sabres took way too many penalties. I don't know if they're make up calls for the first period, but Buffalo spent a lot of time in the box during the second period. Not surprised to see NJ come out and give a better performance in the second, but the Sabres did not help their cause by taking all these penalties. Need to play a much better third to win this game. If we keep giving NJ chances they will score. Need to play the third like we did the first.
Stoner Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Connolly is playing a great game on the PK and in general in his own end ... blocking shots, etc ... credit where it is due ... Yes. Did you see him slide back to the left point when his d-man pinched in? Nice hold-in and crisp backhand deep to keep the pressure on. And Kotalik is a monster of late. The Devils coach just looks undead.
Realist Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Just what I was afraid of, they couldn't put another goal on the board and they let NJ back into the game. They need to get back to how they played the first half of the game. No shots on net in the last 8 minutes until that clearing shot at the end of the period, if they counted that one. I know they were killing penalties a lot, but that's because NJ is forcing the game now and causing the Sabres to take those penalties, just as we did in the first.
wjag Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I fully expected this to be a close game.. Next goal wins... If Buffalo gets it, up 2-0 and probably that's enough. If NJ gets it, 1-1 and all the momentum.... Now that we have the penalties evened up, let's just see man-up what happens...
KD in CT Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 These PPs are going to come back to haunt them. p.s. Shaq is a hockey fan?
wjag Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 There it is... Sekera from the point.. Looks like Paille redirected it.. EDIT: Kaleta was responsible for the redirect Buffalo:   Devils:
SabresFan526 Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 YESSSSSS!!!!!!! Great faceoff win by Gaustad, and the goal goes in off of Kaleta I think? 2-0. Excellent. Edit - Looks to be Paille's goal and not Kaleta's. Either way a goal for us. Must kill this penalty to keep the momentum going.
