I guess Buffalo is so unimportant to the AP, they don't even bother putting quotes in from after the game like they do with all the other games played....

last 2 games there has been nothing....

It's 2008. We have the Internets now. Why worry about the AP?

Dude.

Last two games? I grant the story from the Washington win doesn't have any quotes, but the Tampa game? Here's the AP story from the Tampa game, posted on Yahoo Sports:

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP)?After waiting eight full games, what?s another 10 minutes for Steven Stamkos to get credit for his first NHL goal.

--snip--

?I knew it hit my stick right from the beginning, and Vinny knew that too, so it was just a matter of them correcting it,? Stamkos said. ?I had some butterflies when they announced Vinny as the goal scorer, but he told the ref that I tipped it in. It was obviously a great feeling when they corrected it.?

Lecavalier even had enough foresight to make sure the No. 1 overall pick in June?s draft got the correct puck to commemorate the occasion.

?I went over right away and told them,? Lecavalier said. ?It?s a relief getting your first goal. He played an unbelievable game tonight.?

So did the Lightning, who have won three of their past four after starting the season with five losses.

?We really played our best game,? Stamkos said. ?We?ve been doing things the last few games that we weren?t doing in the beginning of the season.?

?We?re skating, we?re first on the puck, and we?re aggressive,? Lecavalier said. ?We scored five, and I thought we could have scored more.?

Jussi Jokinen, Ryan Malone and Paul Ranger also scored for the Lightning, who snapped a five-game losing streak against Buffalo.

Clarke MacArthur and Thomas Vanek scored for the slumping Sabres, who have dropped three straight, including one in a shootout. Buffalo began the season with eight consecutive games without a regulation loss.

Miller lost for the first time this season in regulation, allowing all five goals on 40 shots. He also lost for only the second time in 13 career games against the Lightning.

?We?re not making plays that are connecting,? he said. ?It?s not the kind of hockey we want to play.?

Jokinen made it 2-0 just 39 seconds before MacArthur closed the gap with his fifth of the season at 11:12 of the first. Malone then increased Tampa Bay?s lead to 3-1 26 seconds later.

Ranger made it 4-1 with less than 7 minutes to go in the second before Stamkos scored his second of the game just under 2 minutes later. After accepting a pass from Adam Hall, Stamkos sent a slap shot from the top of the right circle that eluded Miller.

?Everybody loves the kid and they know what he had been going through,? Lightning coach Barry Melrose said about the rookie. ?They really rallied around the guy.?

Vanek?s ninth of the season made it 5-2 with just 20 seconds left in the second period, deflecting a slap shot from the middle of the blueline by Andrej Sekera.

?There wasn?t a lot to like about that game,? Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. ?We?re not firing on all cylinders offensively.?

In all fairness, only one of those was a Sabre quote: Lindy saying that we sucked.

And the original point wasn't "no Sabres quotes" it was no quotes, none.

Oops, yup, missed that one. Were it only Lindy's quote at the end, though, I still would have agreed with the intent of the original since the piece was really about the NHL's latest "kid" star, Stamkos, and a previous one, Lecavalier.

I hear ya, but when you play sh!tty and get your handed to you by the team who made the most offseason moves and has the no.1 overall pick in the lineup, the media isn't going to rush to your dressing room for quotes. They will want to talk to the winning team with the latest hotshot player. It's just the way it is.

Besides, you shouldn't be looking to the national media for quotes anyway. The local guys will usually have much better in-depth coverage of the home team.

^^ lol yeah you hit that on the spot. Honestly, who goes looking at the national media for quotes? Just going to sabres.com you'll get every quote you need, in print or audio/video.

Or just go to the Buffalo News, web site and blog. lol come on guys, its not nuts and bolts.

By the same token, shouldn't they be rushing to the locker room to interview the league-leading goal scorer and league-lowest GAA goalie after they blowout a team, right?

For the record, I'm glad that they don't cover the Sabres too much. Gives the guys less press to read about themselves (though, in the case of the Lightning game, it could help to read that coverage.)

There were no quotes from either team for the last game, which leads me to believe it was less "national media's anti-Buffalo bias" and more likely some sort of issue with the individual writer who covered the game - perhaps problems filing his story on time, maybe some sort of travel issues that precluded this particular writer from having the time to get down into the dressing room, technological problems on either end, or maybe the AP didn't even have a regular writer there. I don't know. But since every other Sabres game AP story had quotes from both teams, and since I can't remember the last time neither team had quotes, I have to believe this situation was the exception and not the norm.
