wildcat48 Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 Pirates finish road trip on strong note Norfolk, VA ? It can be considered a successful road trip for the Portland Pirates, finishing their three-game swing through Connecticut and Virginia by taking five of six points. Pirates? forwards Tim Kennedy, Mark Mancari and Mathieu Darche each had three points on the night as Portland defeated the Norfolk Admirals, 5-3, before a crowd of 3,438 at the Scope on Saturday night. JujuFish Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 I didn't watch it, but from the stat sheet, it doesn't look like Gerbe had a very good night. No points and on the ice for all three Norfolk goals, ouch.

No points and on the ice for all three Norfolk goals, ouch. Not to make excuses, but all players will have nights like that. Could be that he stayed on the ice too long, didn't cover his man or maybe he had nothing to do with the goal being scored. On a side note, 3 more points for Kennedy which puts him in the top 10 in the AHL in scoring and only 1 point from being 3rd in the league. Kennedy and Gerbe are 1-2 in rookie scoring. PS The Amerks lost again! Hey Donner...:nana:
Two or less Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 Kennedy is becoming a better and better prospect by the day. Let's not forget Tim Kennedy had an outstanding frozen four in 2007. Everyone talks about Gerbe's frozen four from last year, but Kennedy was just as good. Score the tying goal in the final and had an assist on the GWG. But his overall play, on PP and PK was outstanding and he was shutting down the opponent top line. One of my good friends went to MSU that year and actually went to St Louis for the Frozen Four and he said many reporters in East Lansing were saying Kennedy should have been MVP of that frozen four but the big name and local talent Justin Abdelkader got it. Mainly due to him scoring the GWG and being a Michigan kid. Kennedy was their best player that year though.
shrader Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Or simply because Abdelkader was better in that entire tournament.
