deluca67 Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 Lindy's comment after the game was that "the offense is not firing on all cylinders". I have to disagree, it's not that all the cylinders are not firing, it's that the Sabres don't have enough "cylinders". The Sabres need Vanek, Roy and Pominiville to carry them offensively this season. Maybe a Kotalik or Paille can chip in a little as well. Beyond that top level the Sabres have nothing that can be considered a consistent offensive threat. If R-V-P don't have big nights the Sabres are going to struggle against good defensive teams. In 6 of the Sabres first 11 games the Sabres have scored 2 goals or less. 12 of the teams goals came against the Islanders and a Canucks team that played the night before. The offensive pattern is similar to last years. Struggle to score goals and then light up lessor teams to disguise the problem. The way the Sabres are constructed, if they do not get outstanding goal tending they will not win. I know the Sabres have injuries but none of the players out are considered offensive forces or game changers. They will make the Sabres defense better but offer little in the offensive zone.
