Two or less Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Good to see the Goose back. Hecht can't be too far behind him. And i'm sure Connolly will play sooner then later. I don't care what line Gaustad is on to be honest, he's obviously going to need to take time to get back into game form, but the big thing is we can use him infront of the net on the PP.

I don't remember where, but I think I read that Hecht might be out a while yet which is contrary to early reports.
carpandean Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Even Lindy Ruff gives up speculating on Tim's status; http://wgr550.com/Gaustad-to-return--Mair-speaks/3222758 If you listen to this, Lindy does initially say that he doesn't want to speculate, however later says that he is doubtful for this weekend, but that he expects him to be back next week. Sounds like he'd probably be ready to do the "play, but no practice" thing right now, but that Lindy wants to wait until he can do both 100%.
rickshaw Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Such a shame that Connolly is made of glass, because the kid has some skill. I would think Ruff would prefer Connolly be someone else's problem. Better have a warm body who can contribute for 82 games than a guy who is never feeling well. Frustrating I'm sure. Come to think of it, I work with some people like that too.

Let's hit you in the head like Connolly got hit in Ottawa and see if you jump up. Let's go, it's been awhile since we scrapped. :)
LabattBlue Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 From the article... He doesn't expect it to hurt his ability to take face-offs, and he skated with Patrick Kaleta and Andrew Peters at practice. Peters over Ellis? Hasn't Petey skated in enough games to last him until Christmas? No news on Hecht or Tallinder? Must be tough for the crack reporters at WGR to think of the follow-up question for Lindy. <_<
nobody Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 All I have seen out of Ellis is hustle. How do you not reward that?
LabattBlue Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 All I have seen out of Ellis is hustle. How do you not reward that? Must not be funny in the locker room!
darksabre Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 I hate Peters as much as the next guy but he hasn't been that bad this season. I'm indifferent between him and Ellis right now, so I'll let Lindy play either one.
carpandean Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Peters over Ellis? Hasn't Petey skated in enough games to last him until Christmas? Gaustad's hand is in a cast, so he can't take his glove off, Mair is on thin ice with the league after Monday and Rivet is still injured, so I imagine that Lindy wants Peters there in case somebody outside of Kaleta's weight class takes a run at him (or anyone else on the team, for that matter.) Weber's a tough kid, but after watching two of his recent fights in Portland, I can say unequivocally that he is not a fighter.

Chief Enabler Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 WTF does Timmy do all day? .......not worth my time anymore.

I'll throw my standard question back at you...What did the Sabres do when they sat Peters in the Press Box for the 100 or so games over the last few years? The big bad wolf is not going to come and eat the Sabres if he does not dress. They will survive without him and chances are the player(in this case Ellis) that dresses in place of him will most likely contribute more to the team than he will.
samothyev Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 WTF does Timmy do all day? .......not worth my time anymore. Spot on!! I am so tired of waiting for the skill to not be hurt or whatever... Time to MOVE on...

I generally agree with you, but for the sake of argument, my answer would be: they had Gaustad and, to a lesser extent, Mair to handle those situations. My point was that if they sat Peters, the toughest guy who could actually fight (without re-injuring himself or risking suspension for jumping on someone) would be who? Kaleta? Ellis? Stafford? Once Gaustad is 100%, Mair isn't on thin ice and Rivet is back, then there is little to no reason to play Peters. For now, though ... Now, one could argue that the Lightning don't have a true enforcer, but they do have some big boys that are willing to drop the gloves.

Connolly has PROVEN he can't stay healthy. Management dropped th ball big time counting on him this year. Strow Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 I saw this today and Im a little worried, "Tim is expected back before Hetcht" WHAT. Also is said Tim won't play this weekend and its possible that he gets in next week. Guess that broken digit was worse than we thought.

inkman Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 So does that make him: The Skill formerly known as TC like the artist formerly known as Prince? The Skill only like to be refered to as "The Skill".

Guest Sloth Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 I have a feeling Peters will score a goal this season before Timmy does. That was funny! Too bad there's a good chance it may actually happen...
jimiVbaby Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Is there any way we can give "The Skill" a red jersey like NFL QBs so he doesn't get hit? That's the only way this dude is going to make it through 10 games.
