stenbaro Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I'd like this to end as well. Hopefuly it ends tonight..
Bmwolf21 Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Hopefuly it ends tonight.. I am really, REALLY looking forward to the end of the political ads, the robocalls, the signs, the bumper stickers, and the general douchebaggery displayed by some overzealous idiots on both sides of the aisle.

I agree..I just hope that whoever wins that they do little damage to this fragile country right now..
darksabre Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I'm just disappointed that so many people in my age bracket failed to do their research on this election. Facebook has been a cesspool of blind propaganda belief from advocates of both sides today; it's rather unnerving. Seriously, how many McCain supporters think Obama is going to take everyone's guns away? And how many Obama supporters think that he's going to stop the war but McCain isn't? Did anyone actually pay attention, or did they just take the NRA or the Liberal media's word for it? :wallbash:

Each candidate and their campaign and their party propogate bunk. Did you not hear that a certain Senator from Carolina is godless?

No Senator should have to go godless when there are so many available.

Hawerchuk Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Unfortunately, I don't think positions will factor enough in this election. You're right Ink, its all about mudslinging and negative ad campaigning. You know, the stuff that really matters :wallbash:
darksabre Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 You're right Ink, its all about mudslinging and negative ad campaigning. You know, the stuff that really matters :wallbash: Exactly, which is why I've had a hard time supporting either side, because all their idiot followers just buy into everything like sheep. Even my own mother is a victim to the shenanigans (she blindly followed Hillary too because she's a feminist, which I never knew until a few years ago.) My only deciding factors in this election dealt with Palin's view on abortion and the negativity of the McCain campaign. I would have liked to see John spend more time discussing his plans than just attacking Obama. And although I think Obama is a little too naive, I think McCain is too out of touch. It was going to be a problem either way. I kind of compare the election to the Vanek signing. I think if Obama wins he will struggle a little the first year or two, but in the long run it may turn out better than McCain, who is kind of like Matts Sundin. Would be a good player to have, but is getting up there and might not be able to make it for much longer. I'd rather have a Thomas Vanek than a Matts Sundin, with the hope that he doesn't become a Max Afinogenov.

Very nice d4rksabre
wjag Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I admit I follow this stuff more than anyone I know... This is one of my favorites nights of TV all year... I can't get enough of this stuff. I'm digging into county results across the US. CNN is great for this... I could work that Magic Wall and know where the votes are in most states that matter. The last two presidental elections were compelling TV... Bring on the 7pm closings.... I've got my popcorn ready... Will the Senate go 60-40??? Let's go to the Voter Anaysis Board....

KD in CT Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Will the Senate go 60-40??? Let's hope not. One of the few saving graces of our broken system is that the parties have some ability to keep each other in check. Neither of these group can be trusted with a super majority. Regardless, even though I didn't vote for the almost certain winner, I have to say it's a great sign to see such excitement and involvement by the populous in an election. I'm looking forward to seeing the stats. Hopefully this is the dawn of a new era of involvement in the political process that will lead to an expansion of ideas and a break from the existing duopoly.

Lunsford hanging tough with McConnell. All the Dems need to do is flip Kentucky, Georgia or Mississippi. They look like a lock in eight others.. Chamblis in Georgia and McConnell look very vulnerable. Virgina has already put Warner in for a Dem pickup...

Exactly, I want to make sure the Republicans can prevent Obama from trying to push anti-carry legislation if he gets elected. And I'd want the Democrats to prevent McCain from reinstating the Bush tax cuts. btw, has anyone seen the :censored: ing hologram that CNN has? It's like friggen Star Wars! :o

I pay 6 thousand in property tax a year..ENUFF!!!Not even counting income and sales tax...My God how much more can they take..
Stoner Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Popular vote is really close. Kind of making a mockery of the final national polls showing Obama up 6, 8, 11 points. Interesting.

I pay 6 thousand in property tax a year..ENUFF!!!Not even counting income and sales tax...My God how much more can they take.. I'm referring to Bush's cuts for businesses which will expire this year. That's what the McCain campaign has been touting as Obama's "raising taxes". He isn't going to raise taxes, he's just going to let the tax cut expire.

How is that NOT raising taxes. :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: I also will be very surprised to not see other taxes go up, regardless of what he says on the campaign trail. His party controls both Houses of Congress. It is a truly rare Congressional Democrat that hasn't seen a tax he's in favor of. If he holds on and wins tonight, I hope he is a better President than I expect him to be for all our sakes. I truly hope that he ends up one of the best Presidents we've ever had.

It's fixing a tax cut to the wealthy that should never have happened. The middle class wont see their taxes go up, just people making over $250,000. Most Americans wont be affected by it.

The middle class wont see their taxes go up, just people making over $250,000. Most Americans wont be affected by it. You do realize that the Bush tax cuts lowered taxes for far more people than just those that made over $250k, right? You also do realize that Obama has dropped that threshold down to $200k and his running mate had it at $150k, right? But, I'm certain that only people making over $250k will see their taxes go up. <_< So, will we see a balanced budget as well under Mr. Obama?
