SarasotaSabre Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 Imagine how some of us felt when we kept hearing the terms "hope", "change", and "yes we can" incessantly. They came across as empty and formless rhetoric. Amen....I for one grew tired quickly of the ad nauseum, repetitive slogans and tag lines (which also made their way onto commemorative Obama t-shirts) which to me represented a marketing campaign, not an election campaign. Sadly I think alot of voters got hooked onto these vanilla terms, which further influenced voter behavior. Having said this, cheesy campaign slogans are nothing new to American electoral politics. This is not an indictment of Barack personally, but it is further evidence of the dumbing down of our society. I wish our Prez-elect well in all his efforts at change for all people, regardless of class, for the betterment of our country.
FogBat Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 Maverick My friends Joe the Plumber  What are you insinuating?
FogBat Posted November 15, 2008 Report Posted November 15, 2008 Here's a flowchart via pdf that shows possible Obama cabinet appointments and advisory positions. There are a few Clintonistas on there. Some of it might by hypothetical, and some of it will actually happen. So much for change. <_<

nobody Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 All they do is slit their neck and then let them bleed out. How long it takes - you have evidence right there in that video.

That was priceless! Hopefully she will stick around and contribute to keeping the comady industry going strong. That almost seems like it was done on purpose to make her look like an idiot. Anyway, here is Obama's new economic proposal to build things in the USA. Seems like he wants to spend as much energy rebuilding the United States as the Republican party wanted to do to Iraq. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081122/ap_on_...6SSned6cfWs0NUE
SarasotaSabre Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 the three biggest lies in the Obama campaign/regime: "CHANGE", "BIPARTISANSHIP", & "REACHING ACROSS THE AISLE".....yep, he has not even taken office yet and it's same old, same old politics as usual....appointing the Clintonistas to the Cabinet. He hasn't even been sworn in yet! Were you expecting him to nominate G. Gordon Liddy or something? And his handling of the Lieberman situation does show a change. He is appointing Clinton's because they are experienced, something the Clinton Administration should have done with Carter officials. Mistakes were made, but that makes them better for it. They have learned. I don't know, of course, but I think I'm seeing the building of a great president. Let's all hope he is

Eleven Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 So, a post in the Sweet Caroline thread reminded me of my thoughts on Caroline Kennedy's proposal to become the junior senator from New York. I say no way. She's as qualified for that job as the current president is for his job: she was born into the right family, and that's all. (Actually, the families have some striking similarities: they both have family compounds in New England, the patriarch of each family was a complete criminal, etc.)
bob_sauve28 Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Oh dear oh dear WASILLA -- A 42-year-old Wasilla woman was arrested Thursday at her home by Alaska State Troopers with a search warrant in an undercover drug investigation. Sherry L. Johnston was charged with six felony counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance. Johnston is the mother of Levi Johnston, the Wasilla 18-year-old who received international attention in September when Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, announced their teenage daughter was pregnant and he was the father. Bristol Palin, 18, is due on Saturday, according to a recent interview with the governor's father, Chuck Heath. Troopers served the warrant at Johnston's home at the "conclusion of an undercover narcotics investigation," said a statement issued Thursday by the troopers as part of the normal daily summary of activity around the state. Troopers charged Johnston with second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance -- generally manufacturing or delivering drugs -- as well as fourth-degree misconduct involving controlled substances, or possession. http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/crime/story/628010.html

ExiledInIllinois Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Give it up already... Move on with life.. It can be refreshing... So apathy is refreshing? I thought that it was the problem. It is the reason why the worst US president since Hoover was elected twice. People moved on and the joke fell upon us for another four years from 2004-2008. Given this technology (media/internet) in any other time in American history, I have no doubt that the ball would have been dropped so grossly. Really. IMO, in a bygone time in American history, the American people would not have been so stupid and apathetic to what GW did in his first 4 years even given a tragedy the likes we have really never seen before (911)... Or did we? Apathy and moving on is the problem. It is nowhere near refreshing. Just go to TSW and see how everything is pigeon-holed there. You say one thing that can cross gender the Bills and politics and people want to close their eyes and cover their ears. Folks... Politics is life... Life is politics... This medium (the internet) is what our founders were envisioning (maybe just not this extent and equality) NOT GIVING IT UP is the very cornerstone of our democracy! The power and speed of the internet has wildly brought out what our founders were thinking... This isn't the corner tavern anymore! Now you want people to give it up? :wallbash: :wallbash:
