wildcat48 Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Mike Weber was recalled from Portland this morning prior to Pirates practice.
carpandean Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 I'm surprised that it took that long. When you are already playing your seventh defenseman due to injuries and one of your top-six is questionable, shouldn't you bring somebody up as soon as possible. He could have flown up yesterday and practiced a little with the team today.

Yeah seems a little too last minute un-organized to me as well unless the time spent up is counted by the day and/or proprated higher salary wise then it's just plain old penny wise pound foolish.
wildcat48 Posted October 27, 2008 Author Report Posted October 27, 2008 Weber is summoned by Buffalo Portland, ME ? Prior to practice, the Portland Pirates found themselves down a defenseman, and not due to injury. Two or less Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Sabres flew in Sunday morning from Denver. They probably just didn't get the results from the tests on Tallinder until this morning. In either case, the show must go on. Mike Weber is here and now needs to show why it was a mistake sending him down. Tallinder has been awesome for us this season but a Weber is always good to have if he plays like he did last season.

But his play has been pretty solid. Need Weber to throw that mean streak around while on recall. Maybe start with Chris Neil, that POS! LETS GO BUFFALO!
Two or less Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 ^^ totally agree. He must send a message that he's not just a regular 20 year old rookie. I think he needs to come out with a bang. We need it. We are without Tallinder and Rivet. We need Weber to show that it's ok and we're in good shape. I expect Weber to try to send the message early on.

He needs to stay on the ice and not in the Penalty box. Send a message, but play smart.
Two or less Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Obviously. Who said about going out and hunting for heads?
carpandean Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Weber is summoned by BuffaloRead More>>>> plus/minus-14 rating Wait, is that +14 or -14? (I know the answer, but ...)
Campy Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Weber is summoned by BuffaloRead More>>>> Good stuff. I like what I've read about Dineen over the past few months. I was no fan of his from the get-go when he was a rookie with Harftord. But based upon what we've seen from him as a coach, our young guys are in pretty good hands.
