Stoner Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Re: Max's penalty. Can anyone who recorded the game confirm that the ref pointed to the Sen who dumped Max, as if to say, "You're gone!"? Also, John Vogl wrote the following: "The 18,690 in attendance sure walked out thinking the records could be reversed. They booed the Sabres when the team skated to the dressing room in a 4-0 hole after two periods." This is one of my all time sportswriting pet peeves. "The fans" booed. I've always figured about 10 drunk guys can make it sound like 18,000 are booing. No way was that "the fans" booing. I guess it makes for a more interesting story or something.

I dunno, I thought I heard quite a bit of booing myself.
nobody Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 What is the fascination with Lalime? He is a good back up but I would have like to have seen Miller last night. He still needs to play most of the games. I know they played so poorly last night and Lalime was not the problem but I would like to see our No.1 against a division rival. It's more that we all realize Miller can not play 80 games - he's a 60 game maximum goalie so the Sabres need to have their backup game ready and confident.

I understand that part. I just think a home game against a division rival should have our No.1 in net.
nobody Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 I understand that part. I just think a home game against a division rival should have our No.1 in net. Lindy mentioned players being tired from the road trip so since he did have Miller play those two games I guess he was the one player on the roster that he could give the night off.
Two or less Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 What is the fascination with Lalime? He is a good back up but I would have like to have seen Miller last night. He still needs to play most of the games. I know they played so poorly last night and Lalime was not the problem but I would like to see our No.1 against a division rival. I figured Miller would play vs. Ottawa but i guess Lalime has an outstanding record against the Sens. I knew Lalime would play soon at HSBC Arena, they wern't just going to use him on the road. But, like you said, it's time to start giving Miller some more time. Play Lalime in back to back nights and later on in the year when we want to give Miller some rest.

I wonder if the league will suspend Mair for that? In the NBA when players do that they usually get a game.
nucci Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Lindy mentioned players being tired from the road trip so since he did have Miller play those two games I guess he was the one player on the roster that he could give the night off. Yeah, you're probably right.
LabattBlue Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 I'm being lazy and didn't go through the entire GDT. How did Weber play last night?
spndnchz Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 I'm being lazy and didn't go through the entire GDT. How did Weber play last night? IMO, nothing terrible. Seemed a bit "where am I supposed to be" at times. With some team practice he'd make that up. He did have one great play with Spezza pushing a puck toward the net and Weber got his stick behind LaLime to stop it at the goal line.

spndnchz Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 thx oh yeah, he did dump Alfredson and ended up playing patty cake with Fisher for it.
Sabre Dance Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Not that it would have made a different result on the scoreboard, i must say this was one of the worst officiated games i've ever seen. Max gets a unsportsmanlike penalty for shooting the puck right after the whistle but Ruutu and Smith don't get anything for mugging him? There was alot of sketchy things going on with these refs. And there was a few mistakes they made on Ottawa too (a off-side call which wasn't on Kuba for example). With the Commish in the building, you'd think the refs would be on their game. I'm guessing that maybe B. Thomas may have suggested to Bettman that maybe these two refs should never show up in Buffalo again for the rest of the season. :death: Shades of the officiating back in the 70's when the Flyers used to mug opposing players regularly and the refs only got the retaliation. By the way, I'm still waiting for someone in the league to catch Neil in the chops and lay him out like Neil did to Drury a while back. If I haven't mentioned it, I f*%#ing HATE Neil.
carpandean Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Hey, I just remembered that we only play the Sens six times this year instead of eight like the last few years.
wonderbread Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Classic clip of Mairsy! Bonus coverage.
spndnchz Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Classic clip of Mairsy! Bonus coverage. and a $2,500 fine by the league. Worth it. We should take up a collection... Our next game against ottawa is home on January 6th. With two days off before the game. Mark your calendars!
Eleven Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Wow. A Sabre wearing #22 calling the opponents' moves a "joke." If and when Lindy decides to move on, we may have our man here.
