Can someone explain to me why Max was celebrating like he just won the Cup?

I thought the same thing. They are getting spanked in every facet of the game tonight. Brutal.

Ottawa got ALOT of the bounces tonight though. Sabres looked dead out there. Auld looked like Superman. :wallbash:

the Sens played a perfect road game tonight - we just did not have it.

We have not felt the loss of several regulars...until tonight, IMO

Rivet, Tallinder, Hecht, Gaustad, Connolly...sooner or later it had to catch up to us.

Oh yeah, I still hate Heatley -

Rivet

Unlike some captains in the past, I really feel like this bunch needs Rivet. He's exactly what they don't have, how they don't act. He's their calming influence, get healthy Craig, our boys need ya!

I hate Bill Clement. There is no way he isn't kickin' one out tonight to his Spezza Fat Head.

Whew! Ithought I was the only one. Thank god he is no longer paired with Gary Thorne. OMG he is terrible and annoying. Clement just kisses ass to whoever is winning.

Can't win them all. Plus a couple late goals to give them a positive thought for next game.

Maybe come back with Lalime next game to show confidence? No, Lindy wouldn't do that.

All I got to see was the box score, and for once, I'm thankful for that. (Then again, the Sabres are 6-0-2 in games that I got to watch live. Maybe some of you should be petitioning my boss right about now!) It sounded miserable from what I was able to catch on 550. Was it really that bad?

It's a nascent season, but so far, you're on top with that comment. That was freaking hilarious.

I'm glad we lost this one. I don't want a season like 06-07 where we start out strong and then fizzle out. I want this season to be an uphill struggle the entire way with some big wins and big losses, and some 4-5 game streaks and a strong finish. We need this team to get its losing out of the way early and learn to battle back from it. This is where the captains will shine, and I expect them to.

Awe-freaking-ful. I can't believe I watched the entire game. I hate the Senaturds. But I hate the Sabres tonight even more.

Oh, wow. This says it all. It WAS that bad, I guess.

So the next question is, was it 'cause of injuries (there are a lot)? Or just general suckage?

Personally I think a little bit of everything. They looked spent. No bounces going there way which gave the impression that they really weren't working for it. I am ready to put this Monday evening debocale [sic] behind me.

One of the worst games i could remember in recent years. Actually, in post-lock out maybe. Even last year when they looked bad, they didn't look this bad. However, this team does have 14 points still. They were playing great hockey. We were missing 3 forwards and 2 defensmen. They were due for a bad game and everyone can have a bad day. Let's just see how they come out on Thursday night. If they play well and get 2pt vs. a weak Tampa team, this game will be forgotten.

On top of that, we were flat. Had no desire. No emotion on the ice. While Ottawa was playing like a very desperate hockey club. They had to win this game. They are flying as i type this to Florida for 2 games. They didn't want to lose this game and think about it's long losing streak. It happens, the team needs to move on and play hard on Thursday.

One thing i will say is, i'm sure a few people on this board will be regretting not wanting Tallinder to be in the lineup. He makes alot of things very simple and eats up alot of ice time.

Quick question - During the telecast, i noticed less and less of Drew Stafford. Yet he was on the ice late in the game. Did he get hurt during the game or something? He only played 9 minutes. I thought he started off strong so i don't think it was a benching for bad play. Because if that was the case, why was Spacek and Roy allowed to return to the ice? lol

Not to discredit the Sens though, but i'm honestly not to impressed. A number of mistakes on each Ottawa goal pretty much. I think it was more of us beating ourselves then Ottawa beating us.

And my final note, when is Hecht and Gaustad back? I heard someone say they both could be ready by Thursday? Any truth to that?

Not sure if this has been talked about, but how is it Fisher doesn't get an instigator for his fight with Weber? Weak officiating.

Not that it would have made a different result on the scoreboard, i must say this was one of the worst officiated games i've ever seen. Max gets a unsportsmanlike penalty for shooting the puck right after the whistle but Ruutu and Smith don't get anything for mugging him? There was alot of sketchy things going on with these refs. And there was a few mistakes they made on Ottawa too (a off-side call which wasn't on Kuba for example).

I believe that Connolly and Gaustad are both very close to coming back. "Day-to-day" were Lindy's words and it was initially reported that they were possible for tonight. Don't know about Hecht, though.

However, Connolly's pretty much been day-to-day since the pre-season, according to Lindy's statements.

"He might play Friday", "He'll be ready to go next week", etc etc.

Lindys' audio suggests that they had alot of lag from the road trip, etc. I am still of the opinion to drop Kaleta or Peters and Ellis for some "young legs" or a rookie early in the season here to get some NHL experience before the real panic button is hit in the spring.

I dont see much benefit to having Mair, Kaleta & Peters all starting at the same time. Ellis and Mike Ryan are the same players to me.

What is the fascination with Lalime? He is a good back up but I would have like to have seen Miller last night. He still needs to play most of the games. I know they played so poorly last night and Lalime was not the problem but I would like to see our No.1 against a division rival.
