Who sits when everyone is healthy*?

First off, I put the asterisk there to designate that I don't think Connolly will ever be healthy and I didn't want to jinx the Sabres (that's for you Harry).

 

On to the topic at hand. When Goose and Hecht return who is going to sit? Obviously Ellis and Peters are the first two out but what if we "need" Peters in the lineup? Does Kaleta sit? Kotalik? Max?

If it was me, I would go:

 

Vanek-Roy-Stafford

Paille-Hecht-Pominville

Max-MacArthur-Kotalik

Kaleta-Goose-Mair

 

MacArthur's effort has been pretty consistent and he can be on a short leash ... if he slacks off he sits. I get that there is more fighting this year but i don't think that 4th line would be intimidated or a liability in that regard.

All that said, I think Lindy would sit him, play Goose in that spot and leave the 4th line Kaleta-Mair-Peters.

Before the season I was really down(maybe underwelmed is a better term) on MacArther, but he has definitely proved me wrong and has earned a spot.

I really like those lines more than I would have at the start of the season. I could see the fourth line playing more than usual, basically rolling four lines, and Goose would get plenty of time on special teams. One caveat would be that in crucial faceoff situations, Goose could be substituted into either the third or second line to win the draw. He is far better on faceoffs than either Hecht or MacArthur.

This poll is a little fantastical because when was the last time the team got through the season with all healthy hands (excluding Timmy). When Goose and Jochen come back, I'm sure it won't be too long before someone else goes down. So, Peters, Ellis, Kaleta will get plenty of games I think.

Agreed. Besides the game at home vs. Minnesota, i even thought he played poorly in pre-season. He's been awesome though. Hitting, playing hard, very smart player, barley makes mistakes in our end and is scoring/setting up plays. MacArthur has earned a spot and will stay on.

I'm gonna get destroyed for this, but I think Peters has been playing better than Ellis. That's only if we're comparing the two, and I in no way think that Peters should dress when we get Goose and Hecht back. I like the idea of Goose centering the 4th w/Mair and Kaleta, again assuming Goose gets the call on critical faceoffs. That 4th line could more than handle and "code" issues.

Probably very reasonable, but I think Lindy might keep Mair between Max and Ales until Timmy is ready. Put MacArthur back on the 4th, and I think you've got it nailed.
