R_Dudley Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Wow, I wonder if any of our posters are being quoted as speaker for the masses? True that and get your point,, However there is some truth to the fickleness of allot of the NY city fans and how quickly they have and do turn on their players/teams. It's almost kind of the culture there to rip-up and trash talk with the attitude that if you can't take it and let it motivate you to do something about it/prove them wrong then you don't deserve it, shouldn't be there. I guess we will see how CD handles it and if a tiny buzz turns into a deafening roar.
wjag Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Just went trolling on their HF Boards site. Actually I'm a long standing member who reads, but doesn't post, but I digress....There is an entire thread about our superhero and their unhappiness with his 1 assist. Lots of bemoaning his NMC. Like every hockey fan, drooling over the thought of Gaborik somehow, someway getting traded to their team. Amazing it took only one year their for the knives to come out. I guess with their favorite whipping boy playing in Russia, they needed a new scapegoat. Imagine how unhappy they would be if they weren't in first place.... If the dogs are out in NY, then maybe we should check in on Philly to see how the other captain is fairing on the 2-point, last place flyers... That's just fun to say...... :chris: And since we are sorta, kinda on the unhappiness subject: Ottawa unhappy with the Pizza line... Sending Spezza to the 2nd line and promoting the pointless Mike Fischer to center Heatley and Alfie...
inkman Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Wow, I wonder if any of our posters are being quoted as speaker for the masses? Well no, but there was a lot of similar sentiment to that posters feeling throughout the thread. He was actually one of the kinder ones.

PTS Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Man, I feel for the Rangers. I feel so much for them that's I'm willing to part with Max and a prospect for Drury. I'm sure he wouldn't mind coming back to Buffalo if he's getting hell in the Big Apple. Wait, isn't that the reason he left Buffalo so he could get away from people always watching his every move?

I'm sure Drury wouldn't mind crawling back to Ruff, and i'm sure the NYR would LOVE to dump his salary and get a forward and prospect in return, esspicially a UFA, however, i think Darcy Regier may have an objection. As stated in this thread, he's paid as a #1 center. That's his contract and nobody can change it. And he's never been a #1 center and never will. No need for him in Buffalo.

At a reasonable salary Drury would be a fantastic answer to the no.2 center/Tim Connolly conundrum. But with that contract any talk of Drury coming back to Buffalo is a pipe dream. I'd put the odds of us landing Gaborik as much better than Drury coming home.
nobody Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 The Rangers would have to eat half his salary - which I don't think is allowed anymore.
shrader Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 The Rangers would have to eat half his salary - which I don't think is allowed anymore. You're right, it's not allowed. They're stuck with Drury for quite a while.

nfreeman Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Still, we shouldn't kid ourselves -- at the original deal we were going to sign him at before TG dropped the ball, i.e. $5.5 million per year for 4 years -- he'd be a huge asset to this team. Also, it's not like the bottom is falling out on the Rangers -- they are off to an excellent start. Forgive, but don't forget.

NYR played a very weak schedule to start the season and since have lost 3 out of 4. And they've played much more games then anyone. They are a sinking ship.
LabattBlue Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 The Drury situation is becoming ridiculous. He played in all 9 games, averaged just over 20 minutes of icetime which is 4th top on the team, and all he has to show for it is 1 assist AND he is the Captain, and he is making 7.1 million and he has a no trade clause. Why does he get the free pass? Why he isn?t being held accountable by beibg scratched or benched or waived or bought out. The guy is 32, not hitting, not scoring, he is not needed. Prucha or Fritsche or Korpikoski are much more effective players. How many more games do we wait to say enough is enough with Drury? I guess this fan isn't enamored with "intangibles" or Drury's appearance in the little league world series or the fact he won a cup with Colorado on a team that was loaded with talent.
wonderbread Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Wow, I wonder if any of our posters are being quoted as speaker for the masses? hopefully it's me. :chris: of course I never really have anything of value to add.
thesportsbuff Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 maybe playing for NY just doesn't motivate him the same was as playing for Buffalo did.
inkman Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 maybe playing for NY just doesn't motivate him the same was as playing for Buffalo did. Strike this from the record! His childhood dream was to play for the Rangers!

For all the crap slung at Drury and his intangibles, I think there are a lot of people here who would rather see Drury at $5.5M as our second-line center and a rookie winger over Connolly and Max. I know I would. The salaries would be a wash and we'd be very solid down the middle. Flame away.

Thats still too much for a 2 way center..No way..He sucks..He doesnt play well with others in the lockerroom..He never scores big goals..And most of all he loves it when a team has a bunch of complacent hockey players like Satan on it...Who needs a player like that.. :nana:
FogBat Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 lol yeah some people never stop surprising me. But Kalinin has been very solid for the NYR but he had no value with us and like 99% of our fan base wanted him out... and now people are mad we didn't get anything for him. lol I'm not mad at all. I mean, is there anyone really that valuable in the Rangers' lineup? Could have been worse. We could have obtained Sean Avery... <_<

cilevel Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 maybe it's not all it's cracked up to be  I was reading on a Rags message board the other day and they were ragging (no pun intended) on Kalinan (can't remember how to spell his damn name) - no surprise on him, but - they were really ragging on Drury as well. I mean, c'mon, if all you want is points then Drury is not your guy. They've got a great start to the season and have a lot going right and they're b!tching about the guy. Don't get me wrong, I think he is way over paid and while I would still like him on our team, not at that price. I certainly hope he knew what he was in for but something tells me your statement is correct.
X. Benedict Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 The irony of this whole thread is that the trouble is in Phlyer-land. Marty has suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked in goal. No defense. Just nothing on the back-end. I am so pleased.

Dubinsky may already be a stud. Callahan and another stud in Atlanta, Colby Armstrong are not getting too many minutes right now, still trying to figure it out.....
