Buffalo Fan Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I haven't seen any games yet this year, but his stat line is pretty brutal.
Two or less Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I think he hasn't played good, but better then last season for sure. The big plus for Stafford is his 2-2 in shootouts. That will keep him in the lineup. He's playing hard, but i'm not a big fan of our top line. Derek Roy isn't playing well (offensively) either. When your center plays bad in the offensive zone, the wingers will feel it too. Thomas Vanek has 7 goals, 3 are PPG and 2 are SHG. Roy needs to wake up.
james duncan Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Yes--it is too early. They are playing a different game right now and this defense-first thing is paying off in wins. Uncertain how Vanek has posted the monster numbers he has despite it but I wouldn't expect the team offensive stats of years' past. Roy has been off and the injuries at center hasn't been good for continuity on the team. V-man is right, 2-2 in shootouts is a good stat. Jersey--you gotta get the season ticket...no games yet?
Wraith Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 The biggest thing that is wrong with Drew Stafford is Derek Roy. The second biggest thing is bad luck. Stafford is tied with Ales Kotalik for the second most shots on the team with 15. That's with far less power play time. He's had a lot of quality scoring chances, they're just not going in. Contrast that with a guy like Kotalik, who's putting in an equally high effort but also catching a lot breaks (Goalie kicking in pucks, for example).
X. Benedict Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I haven't seen any games yet this year, but his stat line is pretty brutal. I think he's fine. He's been sound positionally and he's making the right plays and getting chances. They will start going in.
ROC Sabres Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 As a huge stafford fan, I gotta say I'm not worried. It's still very early and he hasn't been getting the bounces that other people do (and I'm pretty sure he gets no PP time). It's still too early for me to say that he's too far gone (even if he is, probably would still defend him), either way, I'm still putting on his jersey tonight and hoping for the best.
Buffalo Fan Posted October 22, 2008 Author Report Posted October 22, 2008 Wow, that's freaky...the day I ask about Drew he delivers...Game tieing and shoutout goal. It wasn't his start to this season that I was worried about, it was his start this season plus his "off" season last year. Hopefully the Boston game springs him loose.

Can you start what is wrong with Max & Roy threads? We need them to start getting some goals also!
