MidwestSabresFan Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Anyone going from the Iowa/Minnesota area? I'm coming from Cedar Rapids, IA. Any suggestions on places to eat beforehand or warnings? Thanks!
Freeezo Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Midwestsabrefan, I would check out Tom Reids bar as a tourist.....http://tomreidshockeycitypub.com/ If you don't know the name he was a long time north star and color analyst... Two blocks from xcel..i live in a suburb of St. Paul but won't go to the game as i don't care for the 18,000 +++ yuppy wild fans.....hope you enjoy your visit........
Trey Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 I should be there (depends on if my baby girl decides to be born this week or next...she was due yesterday). Tom Reids is a decent place to get some bar food and into the hockey mind-set. I don't know the area all that well (I live in Minneapolis). If you haven't been there, it's a great arena (construction/style wise). I wouldn't go as far as saying that they are all yuppies, but you're certainly not going to get a beat down for cheering for the other team (Minnesota nice and all). Let's just hope they win. There's nothing worse than being in the enemy's building when your team loses. The fans become real pricks then.
