GoSabresGo Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Did anyone else notice the "old, new" logo behind Sylvester on the Sabres dressing room door? Seems weird that the 3rd jersey logo would be on their door on the road no less? This on top of the 3rd jersey logo that the players came out of on opening night. Maybe the slugz days are over.
BetweenThePipes00 Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 I did notice ... I doubt the Slug's days will be over for at least a year ... but I agree, the vintage logo is sure showing up in a LOT of places ... in this case, it was on the INSIDE of the dressing room door and could only be seen when it was wide open ... so not like it was for marketing purposes ... just seems odd to carry around these decals on road trips to plaster around your room unless THAT is the logo you want to be identified by ...
darksabre Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 How about the new Sabres Gamenight graphic with the crossed swords?
carpandean Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Next year is the 40th; need I say more?
rovey1961 Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Next year is the 40th; need I say more? 2009 is the sabres 39th year they came into the league on 1970 I have 2 of the commerative plates
frisky Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Do the Sabres carry those things around with them or do the Islanders supply the magnet for the dressing room door? I thought they might have had kept it around from days long ago. It looked like the original one. If the Sabres had brought, wouldn't they have brought the updated one?

I think this is where the "sugar-packets" Golisano reference will end up coming into play about how he's so cheap he bought two off of ebay for $1 cuz he didn't want to pay for new ones.
carpandean Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 2009 is the sabres 39th year they came into the league on 1970 I have 2 of the commerative plates 2008-09 is their 39th year. Next year, 2009-10, is their 40th. They wore their 20th in the 1989-90 season, their 25th in the 1994-95 season and were supposed to wear their 30th anniversary patch during the 1999-2000 season, but I believe they only wore it once because of the NHL's 2000 patch (I heard that somewhere unreliable, so it may not be true.)

You probably have to do the math for some. 1970-1971 year 1 1971-1972 year 2 1972-1973 year 3 1973-1974 year 4 1974-1975 year 5 1975-1976 year 6 1976-1977 year 7 1977-1978 year 8 1978-1979 year 9 1979-1980 year 10 repeat 4 times 2009-2010 year 40
ROC Sabres Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Are we counting the lockout years? I know it's kinda a stupid question because the team did exist still but didn't play. I dunno, what do you think?
carpandean Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Are we counting the lockout years? I know it's kinda a stupid question because the team did exist still but didn't play. I dunno, what do you think? I thought about that and since the patch would actually say "40th anniversary, 1970-2010" (based on previous patches), I'm guessing they will count years, not actual seasons played.
carpandean Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 You probably have to do the math for some. True for some, though I believe that Rovey1961 assumed that by "next year" I meant the next calendar year (2009), not the next season (2009-10). In other words, we would probably agree on the season that the anniversary is celebrated.
tom webster Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 40th anniversary***** Don't mean to get into any real deep conversation, but the 40th anniversary is actually 2010-2011, since anniversary years don't start accumulating till one year after the event. So in summmary, 2009-2010 is their 40th year in existence while their 40th anniversary year is 2010-2011.
spndnchz Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 That's what I meant by my asterisk. Kinda like "All time home run champ"****
