nfreeman Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 Man, was that a long off-season or what? This is a tough matchup, but a win could set a good tone. At least they should not get caught napping like last year against the Isles. Very excited for my boy's first meaningful Sabres game ... although they are unbeaten in his lifetime as he was born the day of the season finale vs. Boston ... He had the Bills undefeated also, but he was sick Sunday and not at his full powers ... he's better now ... Let's Go Buffalo!! Yesssss! congratulations.
wjag Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 I'm absolutely ready to kick this thing off... I'll be in the GDT as usual recording the goals for posterity.... STAY OUT OF THE PENALTY BOX!!!
Goodfella25 Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 The SabresEdge blog on buffalonews.com is reporting that the likely scratches at forward are Ellis and MacArthur. So this begs the question--why in the world would we dress Peters over these two guys? Laraque isn't playing for Montreal, so if the blog is indeed accurate, it doesn't make any sense. I thought we claimed Ellis so that we had another forward to fill in while the goose is on IR. Apparently they prefer a dancer who can't skate to dress instead of a hockey player.
LabattBlue Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 So this begs the question--why in the world would we dress Peters over these two guys? A. Team Clown. B. He has revealing pics of Darcy, Lindy & Larry. C. He miraculously learned how to play hockey over the off-season D. Ruff finally came to his senses on the rotating captain. Can't expect two miracles in the span of a week. E. Koivu took boxing lessons and Ruff needs to counter that move. F. Lindy wants to see if Peters is actually going to fight this year or if it will be another year of turn my back to the other guy, pull on his jersey really hard, swing wildly and then fall to the ice and act like you won the fight. G. All of the above!

johnyvegas Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 Game on gang! Just checking back in after a looooong summer off. Oooh... Ahhhh etc. I'm so pumped! This team is gonna rack up points early this year.. I'm expecting long winning streaks and a new attitude. Sabres 2-1 tonight.
Rabbit151 Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 great move picking Rivet as captain. he's no-nonsense and will hold players accountable. this rinky-dink rotation was cute, but not the stuff of true winning teams. analysts up here all agree that was a good move. I'm surpised that analysts generally pick the sabres as a bubble team...finishing 7th to 10th somewhere. this is still basically the team that went to two conference finals, finished first overall and 4th in scoring last year without Drury, briere and missing Connolly and Afino for most of the year. they have improved defense, young guys turning into vets and solid back-up goaltending. I think they have what it takes to surprise everyone and finish in the top two in their division and be no lower than 5th in the conference. my boys, 4 and almost 6 are getting interested in hockey. Predictably, they like the Sharks for obvious reasons and the Flames (closest geographical team to us). but, my 6 year old is re-thinking this. I donated some time to his grade one class yesterday and I was wearing my sabres leather coat. he told me at supper that one of his friends thought i was cool because i was wearing the coat of the team that he cheered for. I could see it in my boys eyes...the wheels are turning, he's thinking "maybe I should cheer for the Sabres too"
darksabre Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 WasJesus A Goon? Let's not get this thread closed too

wjag Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 I predict that Kotalik gets the first Sabres goal of the year..
JujuFish Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 LET'S GO BUFFALO! LET'S GO BUFFALO! OOO, AAH, SABRES ON THE WARPATH! I'm psyched. Come out hard, come out strong, go away with the win!

theesir Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 You know, Connolly makes it damn hard to root for him, what the hell is his problem now!!??!!!
Strow Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 Timmy didn't even skate out for the into he hid!
wjag Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 Timmy didn't even skate out for the into he hid! None of the scratches came out.. I think they could at least have let them lace up for the intro.. Must be a league thing..
Strow Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 The rangers had them out for the intro. It was all kinds of half ass in Buffalo
wjag Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 Lang dang... right in front of the net Buffalo: Montreal: :death:
JujuFish Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 MSG isn't keeping a timer for the PP on the scoreboard?
Strow Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 I know its early but it looks like more of the same from last year a lot of skating around and not much urgency by the sabres.
