BamBam Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 TSN.CA: reports the following players have been placed on waivers: Peter Schaefer - Boston Bruins Kyle McLaren - San Jose Sharks. Aaron Downey - Detroit Red Wings Boyd Devereaux and Steffan Kronwall - Toronto Maple Leafs. Matt Pettinger and Jason Krog - Vancouver Canucks. Gilbert Brule - demoted by Edmonton Oilers Aaron Johnson - Chicago Blackhawks So remind me...How do waivers work? If you claim a player you're on the hook for the entire salary right? Aaron Johnson had alot of promise I thought, and isn't Deverreaux a center?

If you later try to send the player down, if noone else claims him the original team can reclaim him and finally send him down to their minor league affiliate.
deluca67 Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Correct. If you later try to send the player down, if noone else claims him the original team can reclaim him and finally send him down to their minor league affiliate. The Sabres should try that with Max and Connolly.
Two or less Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 The Sabres should try that with Max and Connolly. Yeah...
carpandean Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Krog is one of those guys that I just don't get. In his last two AHL seasons, he has put up over 1-1/2 PPG and before that always put up around 1 PPG. He was scoring champ for the league, as well as the MVP. Yet, he comes up to the NHL and can't do anything (Jody Gage syndrome.) I realize that the game is different, but how does that much production not translate into anything up here?! If he could manage something over 1/2 a PPG, I'd say sign him up. The Sabres do have a history of improving smaller, underachieving centers, right?
shrader Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Correct. If you later try to send the player down, if noone else claims him the original team can reclaim him and finally send him down to their minor league affiliate. Only if they waive him before the 10 games/30 days mark.
