BamBam Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 From Eck this morning: Bryan Berard Watching Berard in the pre-season in Philly I grew increasingly impressed by his play. I watched Bryan play on the Island last year and he is a skilled players who needs to play with skilled players. In Philly he was playing with skill and that speed-up suited him VERY well. He is clearly in the best shape he has been for awhile and made several quick transitional plays that led to Flyers goals. In Philly, Bryan was simply a victim of a very crowded d-corps, but I have ZERO doubt that he will land elsewhere. An experienced, puck moving guy playing like this WILL be in the NHL. I am looking at you Tampa, Buffalo, and St. Louis...
deluca67 Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 The Sabres don't need him. If they are going to add a blue liner I would hope he would be more of a physical type.
darksabre Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 I'd put money on him in Tampa. Always liked him though.

will Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 ugh, i thought we agreed eck would be mentioned in any subject line to save those of us living in the real world a few extra seconds/minutes. c'mon bam, help us out. and to answer your question..."will they call?" no. the fact that it's an eck brain fart virtually guarantees this.

carpandean Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 I remember reading the story on Berard a long time ago and thinking it was both tragic and inspiring. That said, DR won't be picking up the phone.
SabresFan526 Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 There's no chance DR calls Berard and his one good eye. The Sabres don't need a puck moving defenseman in that they have Sekera and Teppo as a secondary puck moving defenseman. Sekera is cheap, younger, and can see with both of his eyes. He may lack experience, but his eyesight and age make him a better option than Berard right now. I don't mean to be mean and offensive, but given where the Sabres are right now and how Darcy operates, he'd rather go with a young guy to bring the skill than an aging veteran with eye damage. Also, it won't happen unless one of Tallinder or Paetsch are traded away to make room on the roster anyway.

Sorry... Its the pre-season for me too. I'll get it right the next time.
FogBat Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 haha... Sorry... Its the pre-season for me too. I'll get it right the next time. Better yet, don't quote Eklund at all. Hearing his name is like Rumpelstiltskin hearing his own name.

nobody Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 Maybe the Sabres would give him a call to play for the pirates then? :chris: That's just cruel. Funny; but cruel.
